Connecting preamp to receiver already with a phono

Hello everyone,

I'm an audio newb who recently became fascinated with analog sound and equipment.

I currently have a JVC JR S100 receiver (has a phono) that lines the sound from my turntable (Sony PS-T3) to my speakers. I am considering buying a separate preamp because I have heard the sound is better with one, but I have also heard that coupling a preamp with the internal preamp I already have in the receiver leads to sound distortion.

My question may be simple -- is there a way to connect a preamp to my receiver without compromising the quality of the sound? Looking forward to learning from all of you.

Yup. Simply connect to any of the other analog inputs on the AVR (ie. NOT the PHONO input).

Thanks for the help. Looking forward to hooking one up soon!
