Unhappy Diff between Yamaha 477 and 775 - Bad GUI

I got the 775 from Costco for $480. To me, it was overkill for a basic 5.1 system. So when the 477 went on sale I picked it up for $250. Hey, save over $200 on features (I will never have multi-rooms and such) I don't use. But after hooking the 477 up I am really saddened by the GUI. For a more recent model, I expected the UI to be the same or better, regardless of it being a 4xx vs 7xx model. With limitations of not being able to do some of the programming/setting (such as entering radio presets) in UI, but forced to use remote, and some other things that I found straight forward with the 775, but difficult and non-intuitive with the 477, I am rethinking my position on saving money as well as the Yamaha brand.

Curious what other's think of the two and your recommendations. FYI, I have the Kef T205 speakers and my family room is small and partially open to the kitchen.

Yamaha is known for sound quality and reliability. Not for all the latest features.
Amazon currently has the v777 for $800 and the v477 is only $300. If they had
the same gui the v777 wouldn't sell. The v775 is a good deal because it is a year old.

I bought the v773 for about the same price 2 years ago. Pretty happy with it.
Both models have 2 weaknesses. No subwoofer eq and 1 crossover setting for all speakers.
The v775 has more power than the v477. And it has a full set of preamp outputs.
You don't need that. The v675 would fit you perfectly. Same gui and power as v775
without the preouts and zone2 party mode. $380.

Thanks kikkenit2 for the recommendation. I might look at the 675. Now that I have looked at both GUI, it is hard to use the 477 after seeing the updated GUI on the 775.

What models have the different GUI? If the 477 is different than the 775, which has a much better gui, and the 675 shares same gui as the 775, what about the 677 in which the specs indicate an updated gui over the 75 series. So how many GUI is out there?

The 4 and 5 series are similar. The 6 and 7 series are similar. They change very little from year to year.
This has been the pattern for at least 5 years straight now. No gui change from 673 to 675 to 677 etc.
