Question Elite Sc 07 replacement.

Hi Gents . Looking for some recommendations, on which AVR should replace my aging Pioneer Elite Sc 07. Open to anything
including a Pioneer. Thanks

Well what items are you needing out of the new receiver? Only ask as you could buy an older model if you don't need atoms, 4k etc.

Give JD a call at AV Science and talk about options with him. He sells Pioneer, Denon, Marantz and Yahama - all with some great options. I owned a SC-07 until last year. I now have a Denon, but would have likely gone Pioneer if they offered more than 5.1.4. Besides JD being knowledgeable - great prices too. He can help you figure out what receiver will give you the features you need at the best bang for you buck.

I bought my SC-07 right when they came out in 2008 and I am in the same boat. It served me well and never skipped a beat but I just upgraded to a Marantz 8801 so hopefully this will be problem free like the SC-07. Good luck in your search!

How is your new 8801 working for you? Do you like it as much as the 07?

I don't know just yet. It is in transit and will be delivered on Thursday. After I set it up this weekend if I have time I will report back.

I've come around to wondering about upgrading from my SC-07 to an 8801 like you did. I know the feature set on the 8801 is much more complete, but how does the SQ compare between them? Are you happy with the upgrade overall?

I've had it for a little while now and set everything up and I personally think it was a very big step up but this is just my opinion and only relates to movies (dialog, surround effects, etc). I haven't really listened to music as my theater room is primarily for movies. I paid $1,200 shipped from a member here and it was only a year old so while the 8802 is apparently a decent step up from the 8801, it isn't over $2k better to me.

If you are looking at 4K down the road, i would wait one more year and get something that would support HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 which is what 4K players need to work.

If it's not a BIG screen, it's not a theater...
