The mic came in it's own box with a small bubble wrap bag to put it in.

Thx...found it. Thought it came in a plastic hard box (like another calibration mic I have) so was looking for a larger box.

Yeap, that has never, never made sense to me. My Onkyo updated via wired no issues. I'm guessing their firmware cannot handle the update while active or there's no buffer in the setup to handle the incoming firmware while the Ethernet is active. And yes, there were serious problems with the wireless interfaces quite a while back... (search the forums) which were supposedly addressed in the firmware. After working in the computer industry for longer than I care to admit, I run everything hard-wired whenever that's an option. There is just too many gotchas in wireless connections, routers, encryption keys, etc..
Peace.

lol... been there!

As delivered, my mic was in a small plastic bag inside of a small white box. That box was inside the larger red/black/white box that also contained the stand, cat5 and usb cable.

I don't know. Sounds like a good question for Anthem.

Any future plans for Anthem to release a processor with more than 11 channels. I'm debating on dropping the cash on AV60 right now.

To all intents and purposes it should be. If you wanted to get really anal, phase does change with frequency and things like sealed vs ported, but to account for that you'd need to be able a0 measure those changes, b) adjust the subs to match, and c) be actually able to hear the difference.

Hey guys. If an AppleTV’s audio is set to auto with Atmos on if I play an Atmos title from iTunes or Vudu I see the AVM switch into Atmos mode. If I play a Dolby Digital 5.1 title from iTunes or a Dolby Digital Plus title from Vudu I see Multi PCM. Is there way to see if I’m getting DD+ from Vudu? Also, I read somewhere that Atmos sits on top DD+ so doesn’t that mean that an iTunes title should play that way also.

AFAIK the AppleTV decodes everything (with the exception of atmos) to PCM. I'd love to be able to turn off this un-feature, but it doesn't appear to be possible.

I don't think there's any way to know what format it's decoding from.

So I think I figured something out. I have Atmos on on Apple TV (no atmos speakers yet). When I play a Dolby Digital 5.1 track I get 5 channels, a DD+ soundtrack (I used cars 2) I get 7 channels. Atmos also gets me 7 and since I’m telling the AVM I have no height speakers I get the same 7 from DD+ tracks and the Atmos metadata is ignored. The only reason I’m doing this is years ago using Vudu I decided DD+ sounds better than DD.

I am seeing "Multi PCM 3/4" displayed on my AVM for all atmos titles in netflix and itunes from my atv4k. I have gone through all the atv4k settings etc. so I am wondering if there is a setting in my AVM which needs to be changed?

When i play an atmos title from my OPPO203 it does display Dolby Atmos.

I'm not a atv4k owner/user but a quick google came up with:
Quote:
Atmos works on Apple TV 4K with tvOS12.
Go to Settings > > Video and Audio and select Audio Format. Under Immersive Audio, check that Dolby Atmos is on.
If you're getting PCM then the atv4k is not sending bitstream and you can only use Atmos if the signal is sent via bitstream. It sounds like you need a certain version of atv4k to get bitstream.

Has anyone had the display panel on their AVM60 flicker? Like some of the digits will flash briefly to display something else and then back. Doesn't seem to be affecting the unit otherwise.

Went to Toronto AudioFest and spoke to Paradigm/Anthem and one is in the works! Obviously no timelines were provided but I would expect it would be on par with the current offerings now on the market. I did also request the next version to have phase adjustments within ARC and he said he would take note of it.

^^^^ I also spoke one of my local Anthem resellers about the age of the AVM60 model - especially WRT the HDMI connections and the board's capabilities. He said that question surfaces often and the rest of his answer is similar to what's quoted above. I purchased the AVM60 a few months back.

When Anthem releases a newer model, I'll weigh if the cost to sale it then is worth the upgrade delta. For many, it is the video tech that is changing at the fastest pace and driving the upgrades.

Today, I have an 5.1+ setup in our main family room for maximum utilization and family enjoyment. There's absolutely no way my spouse is letting me install more speakers in the ceilings or walls or add more big black monoliths to the room. BLUF - 11.x.y is not in the running - period. Peace.

Thanks for the update I just hope we'll hear more sooner than later because I'm going to make a decision on an AVR around the first of the year but I still have the AVM 60 near the top of my list.

I agree, mostly on the video side. Also, isn't the AVM60 getting an Imax Enhanced update?

Hi guys, Arc Genesis set the Dolby offset / calibration level to -12. Is this normal? Should I change the Dolby offset to 0 or just leave it at -12?
These are the rest of the channel trims after running Genesis.

Center: +3 dB
Front Right: +2 dB
Surround Right: +2 dB

I wanted to buy a used Anthem AVM 20 Preamplifier Surround Processor for $1000. Do you think this price is fair? Brand new ones in amazon are around $2000.

If you really meant to type AVM 20, then $1000 is way overpriced. That processor is 6 generations old and a fully functioning unit should be no more than about $300. Check eBay or Audiogon to get a good price range.

If you meant AVM 60, $1000 for a fully functioning unit seems a little too good to be true unless this is a price from a friend. I would expect to pay at least $1500 and more likely $1800 for a used AVM 60.
