Ugh not sure if it was this update, but it took me months to figure out a fix for denon frequently not showing up as a spotify connect device, now i believe after this latest update it once again will not show up as a spotify connect device.

The work around originally was that it seemed not to like a static ip address or after awhile it would just disappear, so I made a dhcp reservation for the avr and it worked fine for months, now its disappearing again.

They really need to get it together.

HI,

Thanks for the reply. However, can the Zone 3 and Zone 1 speakers be the same?

Yes, using the "ALL ZONE STEREO" setting.

With the x4200 can you run audyssey for 2 different speaker layout like one for dsx and another for 5.2.2 Atmos and be able to switch back and forth?

Yes, but you would have to first SAVE each config file to a PC file and then LOAD each file back (~10 minutes) when you wanted to use that specific configuration. The 2016 and newer models are able to use the new Audyssey MultEQ Editor app which saves the EQ files on a smart phone/tablet and then takes only a couple of minutes to load back to the AVR so much easier to swap back and forth.

Denon X3200W receiver help..

I have had two of these units, one that came with the system when we moved in, and one that we got under warranty because our speakers weren't turning off when the box was off (they are powered through it). Ever since we got the replacement we have had this issue of our tv stays on when we switch to the projector.

By doing this we change the view from the samsung tv we have on the wall, to the projectors screen that comes from the ceiling, before when we switched between the tv to the screen, the tv would turn off and we couldn't see the picture flashing behind the retractable screen, whereas now we can.

it's as if the amp switches inputs but leaves the tv on. If we turn the tv behind the screen off the projector turns off as well and then a few seconds later the tv will turn back on and the projector will turn back on...weird huh?

I know there must be a setting with the denon set-up menus, but i'm not sure what I should be looking for, any help with this?

Thanks!

(Sorry if this is the wrong subsection)

Although a PJ + TV configuration can work using the X3200W, it is not designed for using a TV and PJ in the same room (as are the same year X2200W and X4200W models which have dual main zone HDMI outputs specifically designed for the PJ + TV use case) as the second HDMI output is for Zone 2 which must be powered on/off separately from the main zone. The first unit likely had no issue at all as when the main zone power is turned off, so to must the Zone 2 be powered off as well otherwise it will remain on per design.

In short, I have to have zone 2 off in order to just watch the PJ and not have the TV on behind it?

The ultimate issue is that, zone 1 connects to my HT speakers, and zone 2 connects to my outdoor speakers. So if I have zone 1 off while watching a movie the sound is being passed to the outdoor speakers and no sound comes through my HT speakers.

x4200w question. I am running in 5.1 mode. No wide, rear, ceiling or anything else. I run the front L&R speakers using an external two channel amp hooked to the front pre out and the center and L&R surrounds from the 4200 itself. OK no problems here.

I have tried to add another set of front speakers with another separate external amp as per the manual by changing the amp assignment to 5.1+ second pair of front speakers A&B as desired using the surround back pre out for speaker B as per the manual.

I want to run the second pair of speakers (B) in just two channel.

Now if I choose speaker A, I get sound out of both (A+B) front pairs. If I choose speaker B I get sound from both (A+B) front pairs. Same if i choose A+B. I have looked at several options including; 7.1-channel + speakers used exclusively for 2-channel playback and the 9.1 option just to see if using the pre out a different way would work. No luck.

As I understand it the pre outs are powered all the time regardless if you use them or not. It seems that the amp assigns are limited. If I choose 7.1 or 9.1 then the 4200 says to use pre out for zone 2 and 3, or some other combination. The amp never indicates how to choose what I want to do. It seems that I am restricted to using just one external amplifier not two (at least the way I want to as per above). If anyone has any tips or point out what I am missing please chime in.

Otherwise I am thinking I might have to replace both amps for one amp with an A B switch on the front panel. I do not want to use a speaker switch box.

Hi, @Pictures -- the amp assign for speaker mode A+B controls the assignment of the power amps, but as you've discovered, the associated preamp RCA outs will always be hot regardless of whether you switch between A, B, or A+B.

If you just want to play B, it should be easy to mute or turn off the external power amp driving the A set of speakers....?

Thanks for the heads up. Sometimes a possible solution is just within grasp but, you dont see it. I will give that a try tonight or tomorrow.

Hi and thanks again. Your idea was spot on but, i wound up using the loop throughput on the amp that had one to the other amp. Then i used your idea to just turn one off. Its a workaround that bypasses using the Avr's A-B switch. I lose a few of the options available from the Avr but, i can do what needs to be done.

Unless i run in direct mode the second pair of speakers winds up using Audyssey's settings for the first pair. I'm sure there is no way around that. I am not saving a second profile to the pc and loading them back and forth. So direct it is. Thanks again

A solution that works well enough may not be perfect, but if you are OK with it, then it seems to be good enough.

Seems a little better, but on CNN the main commercials the volume would go down not every time, now have not noticed any volume change But within the 3minutes commercial, a 10 seconds announcement the volume goes down, then next commercial volume goes OK. I will follow this more closely.

Hope someone can help me with this. My 4300 all of a sudden is making the center speaker very high pitched and really low. It sounds like hearing someone through the speaker of a phone; not on handsfree mode or using the speaker button to hear someone. All my other speakers sound fine. I noticed it today when I was about to watch a movie on my PS4. It wasn't like that yesterday which is the odd thing. I tried different HDMi cables, plugged the source into a different input on the receiver, tried my Xbox one and I still got the same thing. I switched the Movie sound mode to different presets with no luck. The only one that made my center speaker sound normal was 'Multi Channel Stereo. So, I know the center speaker is ok and the tweeter didn't go. I did have a power outage the other day when I was playing PS4, but I have everything hooked up to my Monster Power HTS 3600. I know thats just a safe guard and it doesn't guarantee anything in the long run, but I'm thinking the power outage may have something to do with it. I don't know. I had many power outages here this summer with on issue though. Just wondering if someone else knows of this problem and what it could be.

My x2200w got locked up over the weekend. No output to the projector or speakers and the display on the receiver kept getting stuck at "Update Retry>>". No comms with the Denon app either.

I ended up having to do a factory reset to resolve it. Kind of annoying, but glad it's back working again.

Do a channel test or check the Center wire connections to speaker and to AVR.

Just did both. Still getting the same issue. On the 'Tone' test, my center sounded sharper than all the other speakers. A bit more high pitched. While the others sounded a bit deeper. Checked 'Pure' also and it's set too auto. Its just weird that the center sounds normal only on 'Multi Channel Stereo'.

Have you tried swapping the FL and Center speaker connections to see if the same issue present when the FL speaker is taking on center CH duties?

Check you center channel settings on the setup and also in the Option. Play with the + or - see if you see a diff.

I did a backup on before the firware upgrade and after the upgrade. just in case.

I don't see any mention of you trying a "soft reset" -- unplug from wall power for 10 minutes.

Sometimes a very brief power outage or line voltage spike can wreck havoc with digital equipment, especially when it's just barely long enough for some bits to be scrambled and some not. Unplugging from wall power for a while often can clear up that type of problem.

That didn't do do anything.

Did that and its still the same.

I just called Denon and in the end, I did a master reset and the problem still persists. So now Im gonna have to bring this to a service center. Which is an hour away from where I live. Im just now sure if I should go or buy another center because @jdsmoothie idea made make think if its my center.

...and thanks for assist guys

6200W issue.

I keep getting audio dropouts be it using a source from TV or android box. From TV it is dolby surround. From Android box it can be dolby surround, DTS.
I have done a HDMI reset following the instructions from the 1st page to no avail.
I have also changed the HDMI port for the Android box, still with the same issue. Did not change TV HDMI as there is only 1 hdmi with ARC.
I am using Monoprice HDMI certified premium HDMI cables.

Can I definitely say there is a problem with the HDMI board on my AVR? TIA.
