HDMI 2.0b includes HLG. The DV+HLG firmware update is expected to be released to these 2015 next summer 2018.

You'll want to use "Premium" certified 4k/18gbps HDMI cables (see Monoprice).

Thank you.

What is your thoughts on their Essentials Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable?

@Steve Hurtado

I've had really good luck with Monoprice certified cables, and they are really cheaply priced.

5200 dropping video/audio

Folks,
The output on my 5200 is connected to an epson 5030. Every now and then, 1-2 hours into a movie (most of the time a blu ray), I see a signal drop for 1 to 2 seconds. Initially I reckoned it must be the 50 foot cable to the projector.
Replaced that with a new active fiber optic hdmi cable. Same issue.
Then I instead connected the projector directly to the blu ray source. I connected the AVR to the blu ray source using a co-ax cable. Now 1-2 hours in, i see audio drops. No more video drops. Based on this I am thinking its the AVR that is dropping the ball?
Anyone seen something like this? To me it really seems like some kind of over heat is leading up to this given that I typically see the issue a few hours into watching a blu ray source. I don't see this often (if ever) if I use a regular HD source like the cable box.

Anyone seen something like this?

Yes, the wired connection is configured properly.

I am going to check this out again over this Thanksgiving weekend, and will see if a firmware update has addressed this issue.

I've had a similar issue with my x6200w and Benq ht2050. Turns out I had to switch the video output to monitor 2(pj) as opposed to dual.
My Sony x900e was causing issues with it on dual output.
Not even sure if you have a tv in the mix too but it's worth a mention.

Hey everyone,

Re-ran MultiEQ XT32 after getting new hardwood floors (previously carpet) and now everything sounds overly bright/compressed, like a drive-thru window nearly.

Any ideas on why and how to fix?

Reflection.
I had the same issue after going from carpet to tile.
A nice size throw rug and maybe panels takes care of that.
I did both and all good now. My room used to echo.

Sounded better with old EQ on the hardwood floors though so don’t think that is it. Have a rug as well.

Some sort of compression/EQ thing is my gut feeling... I doubt all 3 front speakers blew.

You didn't turn dynamic volume on by mistake did you? That would definitely add compression and sound like crap at moderate to high volume.

Been lurking a while, finally time to post....

I just upgraded from a Denon x2000 to a Denon 4300h. I also added to Atmos Klipsch 140SA.

Since the ?upgrade? to the new receiver everything is so quiet....? It has no where near the volume that the X2000 had...

Any ideas?

That helped! Sounds much better now, but on 2ch (mostly TV ARC) the center channel still sounds like a drive thru window.

Unless you have an upmixer selected (e.g., Dolby Surround, DTS Neural:X), you should not get any audio from the center channel for 2ch sources.

Brain fart... but the center channel sounds "hot" (like a drive-thru window speaker) on nearly all sources. It's set to +3.5db in levels, could this be it? Maybe I need to re-run Audyssey again?

How is the center speaker aligned? Is it tipped up (or down) so it points directly toward the Main Listening position? If the calibration microphone was off-axis that might explain some of what you're hearing. Another possibility is that the speaker's tweeter isn't working correctly (or at all).

If you haven't already done so, please take the time to look through the Audyssey 101/FAQ. It will help you to get a good calibration. The instructions in the receivers' owners manuals are pathetically inadequate.

Need some advice on how to properly configure my Denon AVRX6200W

I'm waiting for my new purchase the Sony AE1 and the Oppo 203, I also have the following device connected to the 6200W:

-Xbox One X
-PS4 Pro
-Nvidia Shield
-Apple 4K TV

I'm running a 7.2.4 (Atmos), so I'll be disabling the TV audio

So far the way I plan to hook this up is: (from device to receiver)

From HDMI 2 ARC on TV -->Arc HDMI In
FIOS Cable --> Cable/Sat
Oppo 203 --> BluRay
Xbox One X --> Game
PS4 Pro --> Aux
Nvidia Shield --> Media Player
Apple 4K TV --> DVD

My questions:

1) Do I need an Audio Cable from my TV to my 6200 if I'm using the ARC?
2) Should Instead connect the XBox or PS4 directly to the TV and leverage the ARC or audio cable for the external sound? (to avoid Input Lag, not sure how much of an issue this is)
3) Should I be disabling any processing from the 6200W and allowing any of the devices handle the upscaling? (I would assume the 6200W has as good or better upscaling/processing than the TV and the Oppo 203, but I could be wrong)

Anything else I should be thinking off/doing to optimize the connections/settings to take full advantage of every device?

Thanks for the help.

I checked all my speaker levels which were set by Audyssey. They are all negative. Audyssey set my center channel to -7.0dB.

My x4200 will not connect to Sirius. keeep getting the "no connection" error. Internet radio works so I know the network is good.

I have done all of the resets, including a factory hard reset. Still getting the same error.

I was having the same issue with my x6200W this weekend. I haven't had time to mess with it but last I tried it was still unable to connect to Sirius. I have my AVR hard wired via ethernet so it's not a connection issue. Not sure if this is a result of the latest firmware or not...

Some feedback, at a conceptual level. I don't have experience with all of the products on your list.

"1) Do I need an Audio Cable from my TV to my 6200 if I'm using the ARC? "

You should be fine running HDMI from the TV to the AVR. Be sure your HDMI cable is "certified high speed" or "premium certified high speed", which means they'll be able to handle 4K content. (Really inexpensive at Monoprice)

"3) Should I be disabling any processing from the 6200W and allowing any of the devices handle the upscaling? (I would assume the 6200W has as good or better upscaling/processing than the TV and the Oppo 203, but I could be wrong)"

Sony upscaling, by all accounts I've read, is quite good. But this is something you can try and decide for yourself. I compared the Oppo 203 upscaling to what my Samsung KS800D could do. The results were indistinguishable so I let the TV do the work.

"Anything else I should be thinking off/doing to optimize the connections/settings to take full advantage of every device?"
If you have the option to go all HDMI, it can simplify things and produce great results. This might also be a good time to replace any HDMI cables that are not certified high speed. That's a small investment now to avoid ugly debugging downstream.

Just one more upgrade and things will be perfect.

My understanding is that it's a communication problem between all D&M devices and SiriusXM. Supposedly they're working on it.
