Is there a way to turn the usb adaptor on the front panel on and off? I use it to power a cooling fan on and off and keep forgetting to pull the usb plug when I power off the Denon. So the fan runs all night.

Yes. Set <Network Control> (p. 213 Owner's manual) to "OFF in Standby".

Worked like a charm. Thanks JD. I could have read the manual many times over and missed that ability. Shows the value of this thread.

Denon X4200. Is there an option to keep it from auto-on when a bluetooth device tries to link to it.

I occasionally use my phone, via blutooth, with my Denon but not often. But ever now and then Ill find the Denon on in bluetooth mode. I assume the phone is auto-turning it on. I can find no option to that off. Is there a way to turn auto-on off on the Denon so that it does not come on when I am near it with my phone?

Yes. Set <Network Control> (p. 255 Owner's manual) to "OFF in Standby".

I am having trouble getting 4K from my three 4K inputs, Directv, Roku Ultra, and Panasonic UB420. The projector, a JVC x790 4K capable device, shows it is receiving a 1080P/60 signal. Is there a setting on the X2200 that needs to be flipped to enable 4K? I am using certified 4K cables and have interchanged a number of them to no avail. Hopefully I have something incorrectly set that this post might discover.

There is no setting. Are you using "Premium" certified HDMI cables? What is the cable length as >15' can cause problems with some cables? Does 4k pass when the source is connected directly to the JVC?

Yes @JackB , there are all sorts of "certified" cables out there (i.e. certified for in-wall, etc.), but if they didn't have the orange, holographic Premium Certified sticker on the packaging, then it's really a crap-shoot (even with the sticker, you could get a bad one)

The cables are the well known Monoprice Certified cables in 3 and 6 foot lengths. When connect straight to the JVC no problem. That is the first thing I tested.

Is it possible that the handshake EDID process goes out both monitor outputs and uses the lowest EDID it finds. I have the JVC on one monitor out and two 1080P projectors on the other. On the HD monitor out the cable goes to a Monoprice 4K splitter that is powered on; but the HD projectors are not on while the JVC is. I guess I could test that to see if it makes a difference.

Update on this situation. I re-cabled so my three 4k capable devices went straight into the 2200. Then I cabled Monitor 1 to the 4K capable JVC. Everything work and both 4K and HDR passed through and displayed properly. However, when I plugged in another certified cable into Monitor 2 I got a 5-10 second blank screen as the receiver re-handshook(I assime that's what was happening). It didn't make any difference whether the cable was plugged into the splitter on the other end or not plugged into anything. The 2200 sensed that Monitor 2 was now occupied and it sent Monitor 1 into 1080P mode.

A little later.....I set the 1080P's on Monitor 1 and the 4K JVC on Monitor 2. That fixed the what I will call "backfeed" problem. The only problem is that changing from M1 to M2 or visa versa is a pain. Any way to make this easier? Quick Select keys perhaps?

You can't use the <Video Output> set to "Dual" unless both displays are the same resolution (ie. both 4k or both 1080p), otherwise, as you learned you must use the individual "Monitor 1" or "Monitor 2" setting for each source as desired. You can use a Quick Select for up to 4 sources as <Video Output> is one of the settings that is stored.

Thanks for that info. I am sorting through the Quick Select as there are many parameters that are set and I want to make sure that there are no cross conflicts when going from one to the other.

What is the output specs for the USB output on the front panel? 5V/2.0A? I could not find it in the manual.

Looking in the service manual of the X2200W, the power chip for the front USB is a BD82065FVJ-E2 which has a typical output current of 2.4A
So I will say it is safe to say that the front usb is 2A

Is there a enough difference in 5V/2A and 5V/2.4A to have an impact on the device being powered?

Denon AVR-X2200W with Samsung JS8500 + FIOS box and Sony Bluray

I have a Denon AVR X2200. I have a samsung television (JS8500) from late 2015 and a FIOS cable box. I have a Sony bluray player.

From the day i set this up with HDMI ARC port from the TV (little hub that comes with the samsung) to the Denon receiver. But I have always had to also include an optical cable from the samsung to the TV Audio on the Denon for when I used the Samsung Hub for apps like Netflix or Prime Video.

Before the other day, my Samsung TV remote, FIOS remote, and Denon remote all worked to control the Denon volume.

The receiver shut off the other day and i unplugged it for a bit (it overheated). Now, my FIOS remote and Samsung remote only work to control the TV volume. So i set everything up again.

I really just want to get it set up the right way - but am baffled since I've never been able to get it to work with only HDMI cables, even though sound should work with just the HDMI, right?

HDMI(ARC) is finicky at best and especially with Samsung TVs often does not work as desired.

Try doing an HDMI/HDCP reset by powering off the TV and AVR and unplugging their respective power cables and HDMI cable connecting them for 10 minutes. Then connect all cables and power on the TV, pause 5 seconds, and the AVR.

thanks! silly question but...does the type of HDMI cable i'm using matter? i have a few different kinds (monoprice, amazon basics) and the one connected to the ARC connection is the amazon basics one right now.

It does matter in some cases, however, both those cables should work. Try the HDMI/HDCP reset as suggested.

Denon AVR s710W Connection Issues

Hello all,

I'm having a couple of issues with my home theatre system that I can't seem to figure out.

My equipment: a Denon AVR S710W receiver, Samsung 65" TV, Dell XPS running Windows 10 (newest update), iTunes (newest update) and iPhone 8 (with latest iOs).

I used to use iTunes Airplay feature to stream music from my laptop to my receiver and through my surround sound with no problems. A couple of months ago, I found that I started getting a "Denon Not Available" message on iTunes and I had to jump through a lot of hoops to get it to work - basically, I had to go into iTunes, have it forget the Denon, reboot the computer and then re-discover the Denon. It would then work for some amount of time, but once I quit iTunes or changed the source on the receiver (to TV or PS4), I'd have to go through the whole thing again to get it to work.

I figured the issue was some sort of update to iTunes or Windows 10 and I got sick of having to reboot every time I wanted to listen to music through my home theatre, so I started using my phone's Bluetooth function instead. However, I have a very similar issue. If I change the receiver from Bluetooth to some other source and then try to go back, my phone won't connect (even though the Denon is listed in the Bluetooth devices). To get it to work, I have to forget the Denon, then run through the pairing procedure again.

I've triple-checked that the Denon has the most recent firmware, and the Denon is hard-wired to one of my Google Wifi Mesh points. I have no idea what else to check or test to find the source of the issue, but based on it now happening via two different methods I assume the problem is with the receiver.

Center Channel Audo Issues X-2200

I've had my Denon X-2200 since 2016, had no issues with it at our previous home. In the process of moving, it sat unused in a bedroom (temperature controlled) for about 1 year. After moving and setting up my HT system I've encountered a frustrating issue that I can't seem to resolve short of purchasing a new AVR.

My setup: Energy RC-30's left/right; Energy RC Mini center, Klipsch subwoofer.

After setting up the speakers/wiring everything I ran audissey in the new living room, no issues there, but not long I started having issues with center channel/audio dialogue. It will randomly drop from the center channel; I can still barely hear the muffled voices being directed to either the L/R woofers or possibly the subwoofer, it's hard to tell exactly but you can't make out the dialogue. And then it randomly comes back to center channel full volume.

I have replaced the speaker wiring/ends from the receiver to the center channel; I have plugged my RC-30's into the center channel of the AVR (the issue follows whatever speaker is plugged into the center channel.) It occurs across all inputs (I have a roku device on HDMI 4, and use ARC with my samsung KS8000; the problem occurs on both those inputs, it also occurs on multiple codecs (Dolby, DTS, Virtual, Stereo ect)

It almost seems like a audio decoding issue, but I'm out of ideas. I've factory reset the Denon, re-ran Audissey; the only thing different about the AVR from when it worked properly was that it sat unused, it is now in a different location, and after setting it up in the new home, there was a new firmware for it so I downloaded it.

Any help is greatly appreciated; I don't want to have to purchase a new AVR with this one being 4 years old but it's out of warranty, so if that's the solution so be it.

Thanks,

Drew

Drew
Do a few more microprocessor resets in a row. Then run Audyssey a few more times (listening to the results after each time to see if the issue has been resolved), varying the mic position a little each time, but always keeping all mic positions within about 1-2' centered around that first mic position. Also ensure your center speaker is angled up towards your head if placed on a lower shelf around knee level. Otherwise, if still no joy, then although the 3 year Denon warranty has expired, check with your credit card issuer as many will add an additional 1-2 years to the mfr's warranty.

Refer to post 5 and do a "Network Chip only reboot."

I need your help guys... my x6200w receiver started to shut off suddenly and then proceed to turn on by itself and almost immediately to turn off again, and continues this cycle until I manually shut it off or unplug power cable. If I let it sit unplugged for a while, I can turn it on and it may work for an evening, but then it starts doing the same off/on cycle again by itself. When the off/on cycle happening, I can see that receiver's display starts shimmering... it's just another symptom that I know receiver is about to shut off after it works for a few hours with no issues...

Anyone knows what this could be, or know if there is a way to fix it? I already tried unplugging all HDMI sources (thinking it's some sort of CEC bug), but it didn't do anything to stop it.

Is the AVR connected to a power strip?

If yes, remove it and connect the AVR directly to the wall outlet as a test.

If no, try connecting it to another outlet in the home, using an extension cord for an easier test.

If it's still shutting down, then refer to post 5 and do a few microprocessor resets in a row.

If yet still no joy, then repair or replace, although repair cost is likely better spent on purchasing a more current model on clearance.

External Amp

I have a x6200w. I am going to add a 7 channel external amp and use the Denon as a pre-pro. Would it be worth the dollars to replace the Denon with a preamp such as a Marantz AV 8805 or AV 7705
