In fact, I'm sure this setup is supported. The .2 height channels are separate from the main 7 channels.

The setup is supported, but your AVR only has 7 amps. So it can only drive 7 speakers at a time.
You need an external 2 channel amp to do 7.x.2

Is 50W too light for most ? I like the slim line but it looks skinny on power and I correct?

Depends on speakers, room size, and listening levels

Marantz SR6010 -- Marantz MM7025 -- Marantz UD5007
Klipsch RF-7ii's - RC-64ii - RB-51ii's - RS-42ii's - R-112sw(x2)

For 8-ohm, 87db+ speakers, 50W is plenty of power for med sized rooms especially when not requiring movie reference volume levels (the use case for the vast majority of owners).

There's your problem. The SR6010 is only a 7CH AVR so in order to do a 7.2.2 setup, you must add an external 2CH amp to power either the FL/FR speakers or the Height L/R speakers, the least expensive option being to power the two height speakers using either an old AVR you have laying around or an AudioSource AMP100VS purchased on Amazon.
I stand corrected. You guys were right. I have to get a 2 channel. I'm not sure how I recall them all working at one point.

Thanks

It should yes, but again depends on how loud you like to listen. Note however, that upgrading to the SR6010/SR6011 also upgrades from Audyssey MultEQ --> MultEQ XT32, so much better audio quality as well from using the HDAM pre-amps on the "SR" series.

Parasound makes an awesome compact amp at 45W per channel that could be used to drive your extra speakers. In fact, it might make more sense to use it for your two front speakers and let the AVR drive the "effects" speakers. Even though it is rated lower, it's a true and accurate rating and will have a much better power reserve than the AVR. You could get two and set them up in bridged mode for the fronts.

Here it is on Audio Advisor:

Not true. I own the 6010 and I've chosen this model for XT32. Both have this and HDAM circuitry.

SR7010: is it possible to save/switch between multiple speaker/Audyssey calibration profiles? Something analogous to how you can set up separate ISF Bright/Dark Room profiles on TVs for when you're viewing during the day vs at night (or using various levels of light control)?

Strange question, I know, but I'm setting up my system in a multi-purpose room that will regularly be reconfigured between a normal family room setup (couch and a couple of chairs, open at one end to another room, etc) and a dedicated home theater setup (bringing in an additional couch on a riser, hanging blackout curtains to isolate sound/light from the other room, etc), so the acoustics will be quite different in each mode. Ideally, I'd like to run Audyssey in each configuration and save them as separate profiles to switch between depending on my needs that particular day, but I can't find anything about it in the manual and I can't poke around in the Marantz menu system because it isn't set up yet. Is something like this possible to do? Thanks!

Is the NR 1607 or 1606 a smarter buy than an older 6010 or 7 because of its 4K features?

Yes, but doing so requires first SAVing a different Audyssey EQ to a PC file and then LOADing the one you want which takes about 10 minutes each time.

Maybe I missed something, but when did this come about? Is there even an external device capable of doing this right now? My understanding is the current external (non TV apps) are not currently able to do Dolby Vision at all:

Chromecast Ultra.

This from the Vudu support staff ...

Quote:
The VUDU Chromecast app supports Dolby Vision.

But whether is is passed from the Chomecast, through specific receivers or into a specific model TV is up to the manufacturers of those devices to properly support. Unfortunately there can be various compatibility issues related to 4K (@60Hz etc), Dolby Vision, and HDCP 2.2 that can prevent it.

Of the TVs that we have tried it has been pretty inconsistent, unfortunately. We have been reporting issues found to manufacturers, but encourage you to do the same.

Refer to p. 186 in your Owner's manual for the SAVE/LOAD procedure.

I also provide the procedure in the post below when using Chrome on a 2014 Denon AVR, but procedure should be similar.

Fantastic news, thanks! 10 minutes isn't ideal, but it'll take more time than that to reconfigure the rest of the room anyway and from the manual it sounds like the switch-over is done from a browser rather than having to muck about in the Marantz's menus with the remote.

Hmm interesting, I was reading a thread over on Google's forums where they indicate the Chromecast Ultra cannot do Dolby Vision even plugged directly into the TV, at least for LG models.

https://productforums.google.com/for...st/oL4yOR01_00

Unfortunately Google has a reputation for over-promising, leaving their products in continuous beta, and then a few years later after they get bored dropping the product altogether.

Can this AVR passthrough 4K60? I can't get a menu screen through it to my JVC X750 projector, but the 25' Cabernet HDMI cable to the projector gets it fine when connected directly to the Shield.

Any good recommendations for 2 channel amps? I'm pushing SVS Prime's all around with front towers. 7.2.2 system.

Least expensive option: Repurpose an old AVR not being used or purchase AudioSource Amp100VS (Amazon) to power the two height speakers
More expensive option: Use an Outlaw or Emotiva amp to power the FL/FR speakers
