I've been running the beta 1.2.20 since it came out and it's stable and sounds great. I haven't noticed any HDMI issues yet.

I wrote Anthem about the pink noise test tones(Dolby Offset Calibration) not working and they replied:
Quote:
The Dolby Offset/Calibration level was disabled in ARC 9105 and 1220 as a fix for a bug that was setting calibration levels incorrectly.
Genesis use to set all my levels around +7 and I guess Anthem's reply is why with 1.2.2.0 (I never loaded version 9105) they are all in the +1 range like they were with ARC before Genesis was ever released.

The other thing I noticed was ONLY profile 2's Dolby Offset Calibration level (pink noise test tones) increases and decreases in SPL when changing it. The Dolby Offset Calibration level of the other profiles never changes in SPL and are set to what ever SPL level profile 2 is set to (even though their number doesn't change). So profile 2 changes the Dolby Offset Calibration works and you can hear it changing and the other profiles get the same SPL level of profile 2 even though their number doesn't change and if you change thier number the SPL level never changes it just remains exactly where you set it in profile 2.

Anthem pretty much just disconnected the Dolby Offset Calibration from Genesis. I never though it was connected to Genesis because I thought it was just a pink noise generator that you use to check if all your speakers were producing the same SPL. I guess for some reason Anthem was using it for Genesis and it was just screwing things up

Yeah I've been using it a lot. Glad the known issues I had are fixed.

On the first couple of days I did get the audio dropout on pause / fast forward a couple of times, but oddly enough, not since. I've been waiting for it to happen again so I can report specific titles / times to them.

IMAX Enhanced is included in this beta.

I love my iPhone, but it will never replace my turntable. I've never seen Titanic OR XXXXXXXXX. Alexa is a stripper name.

I want to play games with my subs, move them around and with each new location do a Quick Measurement. Is there any way to over lay the new graphs over the previous measurements so I can compare?

Supposedly this is a part of Genesis Quick Measure, although I have not tried it myself. From the web site:

Quick Measure and Snapshots: Quick Measure allows you to experiment with speaker and subwoofer positioning and settings outside of ARC while monitoring the resulting acoustic response in real time. The snapshot feature allows you to freeze a curve to compare against subsequent changes that affect the acoustic response.

Remember this is a beta! I downloaded it from another AVSForum user and installed. It feels fairly stable.

Anyone who tried one, notice a difference?

I watched the Zombieland UHD with the IMAX update. Looked and sounded great. I didn’t notice much of a difference.

Basically it includes a separate process with the director in mastering that is supposed to result in more accurate color and grain texture. IMAX aspect ratio for films shot with IMAX or formatted for IMAX. And DTSX.

So, really nothing.

I checked out Double Tap yesterday in DTS-X 4K and the sound as with all DTS-X movies was fantastic..!!

I'm wanting to compare it's to the IMAX version to see if there's much if any difference between the two...

Yeah I posted the link to my storage earlier in the thread when I first got it from them.

As far as differences, who knows really. I thought someone said that it means the base track is actually 7.0 and the subwoofer is extracted via bass management somehow. It is very odd. But I guess these days with AVRs the .1 track is pretty worthless as everyone runs AVRs with bass management anyhow, redirecting from othger channels to subwoofer.

I've seen Imax Space Station and Zombieland Double Tap.

I was more waiting on the firmware due to the whole Fast and Furious 6 and 7 DTS-X HRA issue - we finally get DTS-X for those movies!

Hello all!

I often have problems turning on my Anthem MRX 720 with the Anthem iOS app as it just freezes at the attached screenshot (where nothing happens if I push “MRX 720”). I can always turn it on with my Logitech Harmony Elite but not always with the Anthem app. Have any of you encountered a similar issue and do you have any suggestions to how the problem can be fixed?

Best regards, Jonas

So from what I’ve been reading here on this forum recently, the latest Beta firmware and ARC software may address the high speaker level settings? Looking forward to more feedback from others as I’ll wait it out until the official release. I’ve ran ARC Genesis on the latest official release and it pegs my speaker levels to +12. It was brutally harsh and loud and not at all enjoyable to listen to. I didn’t have a problem with the older ARC2 software, but have since been running without ARC on at all. I’ve been adding some room treatments bit by bit, which seems to be addressing much of my bass issues anyways. I used the ARC Genesis quick measure to adjust settings during my dual subwoofer crawl and it worked great, which made it worthwhile.

As of last year, Anthem is under their original owner again. Looks like they started with getting rid of their PVA amp lineup. Wondering what they will shake up next. They’ve been a bit slow on any software and firmware updates as of late, which hopefully picks up to address reported issues.

The beta 1.2.2.0 brought my level back to the +1 range like they were with ARC2 before Genesis was eve released With previous version of Genesis they were in the +7 range.

I wouldn't say Anthem has been slow with software releases. They gave us Genesis (initial release version 8849) totally free of charge in May and then they released three official updates to Genesis last year as well (8867, 9006 & 9105).

Thanks for the update....I'm more referring to the speaker level issue specifically. Overall, my MRX 520 works just fine. Based on how easy the Quick Measure performed, ARC Genesis is very promising. Also, I got one of the last production runs of their PVA 5 power amp series and it runs great too.

Yeah they have had a hard time getting the levels right. I wrote Anthem last week and they said the level issue was associated to Dolby Offset Calibration (test tones) in the Level Calibration menu. Sounds like the disconnected the Dolby Offset from Genesis and that helped bring the levels back to normal.

How would you compare two amps?

As a step in getting ready for my Atmos / DTS:X upgrade, I had to order some in-ceiling speakers and an amp to drive them. The parts are all on site and the upgrade work should be done in mid March. All good.

There's an interesting question I'm trying to answer. My ear-level speaker amp is an Anthem A5. The in-ceiling amp is an ATI AT626nc. When the ATI amp arrived, I dropped it in the rack to make sure everything was working -- no issues. But while it was there, it seemed like a good idea to rerun ARC Genesis to see what it could do. Turns out it's a pretty good amp and sounds... a lot like the A5? Hmmm....

I'd like to compare the two amps to see which will do best job for ear-level support but exactly how to accomplish that isn't clear. The ARC calibration with A5 doesn't work so well with the ATI, and presumably vice versa. So I was thinking perhaps a listening session (or a few) with each amp in stereo, with no ARC, level matched is about all I can do.

Is there a better way to do this? Running out of ideas here.

5.1.4 System: Anthem AVM 60 | Anthem Statement A5 | ATI AT526NC | Revel F208, C208, M106, C763L | Velodyne FSR-12 | Samsung UN65KS800DF | Oppo UDP-203 | Roku Premiere+ | DIY HTPC | Logitech Harmony Companion | Amazon Echo Dot

I think you can create 2 different inputs using the same set up with different ARC settings for the two different amps. That would let you use ARC in the comparison.

1) JVC RS540, Monolith HTP-1, Outlaw Audio 7700 & 7140, Wharfedale Jade 7's series speakers, RSL C34e(Atmos)
2) LG OLED65B6, Integra DRC-R1.1, Emotiva XPA9, Klipsch RP8000F, Klipsch RP404C, Klipsch RP500SA, Klipsch RP140D
3) Sony XBR55F900, Yamaha CXA5100 & MX5000, GoldenEar SuperSat 3 System

Not sure what you have in mind here. Let's see...

The speakers connect to one amp or the other so the cables have to be physically moved for comparison. The tone sweeps during calibration use one amp or the other so... seems like separate ARC files would be required. But I could upload the ARC file between tests as part of switching amps. It gets a bit less precise because mic placement between ARC calibrations is never exactly the same. But now that I think about it, if it's that close on sq, it probably is a moot point. Thanks!

G'day, I've an MRX 720 which started to act strangely lately. After doing a fresh ARC upload I noticed there was no bass at all. The sub did not activate. I checked the sub and the built in test sweep worked fine. It's a Balanced Force 210. I cleared the settings, uploaded again still no LFE. Checked test tones from the AVR and all was fine except the sub, it got going initially but started cutting out/cracking quickly then died completely, no signal at all. All other speakers were fine. I swapped the sub cable to the other output on the 720 and it started working however the test noise still fails. Could it be a failing AVR or something else? I recently update to the latest firmware. Thanks

ps: I just above "pink noise" not working after FW update, could it be the same issue? However in port one the sub does not fire up at all.

Did you reset the 720 or just clear the settings?

Yes, done all sorts of troubleshooting. Running sweep tones reveal that the sub is fine as measuring its built in tone results in a normal curve. However measuring via the AVR shows a significant 16db drop at 26hz meaning there is no or minimal output signal there. Also confirmed that the test noise in the AVR is fine until above +4 after that it cuts out indicating it can't supply enough power to the sub. Running ARC tones also indicates a problem as the sub stutters between 20-28 hz.

I communicated all this to Anthem support and they say it could be a faulty sub out.

I reckon it could be a cable also so i'll test that shortly but if no luck i'll pull the board out and inspect the connection and if no visible issue exists I will order the parts.

Any other suggestions?

Of course its out of warranty.

Cheers
