Thanks for finding this review.

Don't miss this part of the review: "DTS Play-Fi’s Critical Listening Mode permits native playback of 24/96 files with no downsampling."

To a single play-fi supported device you can stream 24/96 files without downsampling. You select the device like the mrx720 and then click the critical listening mode toggle.

I think they limit to one device at this sample rate to avoid issues with streaming over wifi.

For multiple room/device in sync listening they do down sample.

I've never been a fan of wifi streaming. It will be interesting to see how good Play-Fi works with my NAS.

Do you have DLNA/UPNP enabled on your PLEX server?

I didn't and turning it on fixed it, thanks!

I use Jriver straight from the HTPC as it adds many more features and benefits.

Odds are I'll run it direct from PLEX instead of streaming, I just wanted to see another feature I was not using.

I like PLEX because I get access to my media when I am not home.

Topic derailment coming...

I use JRiver as well. Everything was working perfectly until a couple of months ago. I never upgraded to the latest version that came out around the same time, and I am experiencing playback issues. I can start a movie from my HTPC from a file on my media server (both overpowered machines), and it happens pretty much every time. I get a few minutes into the movie, and then it stutters.. BADLY. I stop the movie and restart playback and then I am good for the rest of the movie and for any additional movie I might want to watch.

I've never figured it out, and getting support for an odd issue on a "non-current" version of JRiver has been tough. Doesn't happen on my phone or elsewhere via the Roku app, but those get transcoded at the server so not an apples-to-apples comparison.

Very temped to try to install something like KODI for kicks to see if I can replicate it via a different playback software. If it does it with that as well, then it is an O/S or hardware issue.

Anyway, back on track to the topics at hand. I am going to finally re-run ARC using the latest software to see if that impacts by Anthem "thump" at shutdown sound since it seemed to start when I ran ARC after the last update a little while back.

I too experince stutters sometimes and only a reboot resolves it. Try to experiment by switching video processing engines (Red october or normal). As for the "thump" I am now experiencing quite severe "popping" since on the latest FW. It comes when the system is at idle for a while.

Since the most recent firmware update has anyone experienced a very random or intermittent OSD appear for the volume? What I am experiencing is it seems like the OSD appears on screen as if the volume was increased by just one.

I have seen it 4 times now. Cannot figure out whats going on just curious if anyone else has seen or experienced this.

Yes I did get that on the beta FW after I installed it and the language also changed to French. It cured itself after a few days. Weird.

No I'm on android. I have the app installed but never use it. At first I was thinking it was my harmony maybe sending a command but I put it out of LOS and I don't have blasters anywhere. The only thing that has taken place recently is a changed 2 hdmi cables for Sammy bluray player to fix some dropouts. Not using any sort of CEC. Haven't seen it happen since earlier though.

We'll as funny as it sounds it reassuring that I know I'm not crazy lol. It's very infrequent. Seen it 4 times total for the past few days. I think the volume does actually increase by one. I'm keeping an eye on it.

Thx guys

or just turn off OSD like I did, I hate it when it pops up anytime during a movie. I have the display on the unit turned off as well it only lights up when I adjust something otherwise I see no point, mind you mine is in a complete bat cave.

I finally pulled the trigger and ordered the 720. Would it be ok if I downloaded ARC and Play-Fi to get them installed on my laptop before or would this cause a problem with the software finding the 720 once I get it and it's on my network?

Congratulations, I am sure you will love it.

During set up it asks for the Mic serial number, I don't remember if that is a step you can skip, I did it in February.

No problem for play fi, you just can't access anything until it sees a device it's compatible with. You may be able to install ARC & then do the MIC SN.

Hello,
Congrats on your purchase. You download ARC from Anthems website. The only way to access the download is with your mic's serial #. The older models came with a CD.

I already downloaded it here but now I see on the Anthem site that I will have to give my S/N to get the right download for my mic. I'll delete the one I just downloaded. Thanks for your help!

My mic sn is 6 digits starting with a 3, you could get the program, then get the file you need using your sn when you get it.

I'm searching for info on ARC 2. I've found a lot of articles on ARC 1 but nothing for ARC 2. You guys know of any articles with setup, tip and tricks, mic positions...etc. for ARC 2 or would the in depth articles on ARC 1 have the same info that would relate to ARC 2?

Thanks in advance.
I've had my 1120 nearly since it came out, it's been great. I'm still using the v39 firmware that was released at about that same time. No problems to report, very happy with it.

About the only things to know are, we're still waiting on the DTS-X firmware (seems it's currently in private beta). Some folks have networking issues.

All that's basically the same as ARC1. I believe the changes to ARC2 are mostly GUI related and under the hood stuff to deal with the newer AVR/SSPs and how they communicate over IP rather than RS232.

I know Dr. Rich is working on a new article for ARC 2, so look for that at some point in the future. Having used ARC 2 a few times now, I would say follow the same guidance that is around for ARC 1. While the interface may look different, they function very much the same.

Is anyone using RS232 (serial) connection to control their MRX-1120? My unit was working fine until I updated the firmware to 1.062 and now the serial control is not working at all. I have a Crestron processor providing the serial control. Other than updating the firmware on the MRX-1120 there were no other changes to my system. I am currently in contact with Anthem support and waiting a further response from them. The only functions I am controlling with the serial control are volume up/down, mute and power on/off, none of which are working any more. Thank you for any suggestions.
