Great question. I don't have the slightest idea. I will see what Anthem support comes back with....which can be awhile....

That's a fair assumption to make. I've reinstalled. But it's still the same.

Same problem here. When I first got my 720 a couple months ago and ran arc, I saw the option to select more than 5 positions. When the latest version of arc was released shortly afterwards, the option for number of mic positions was gone. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times and have tried both manual and auto mode when installing. Still no option for more than 5 positions.

Perhaps Anthem decided 5 positions are enough?

Well in any case, I've contacted support. And if 5 is the maximum that can be done, the OM should be updated.

Hi guys,

Quick question. I had the 520 but returned it when the Marantz 7702mkii went onsale for $1100 and added my old Amp to it. I'm thinking about returning it and getting a 720 instead.

The question I have is. When using ARC on the Marantz I have to use TV Audio input to get the OLED55B6 sound from the TV through the Receiver, what do you have to do on the Anthem units for ARC sound and is anyone having(are they any known issues with) ARC or 4k HDR? I didn't have the OLED when I had the Anthem 520 and wasn't using any ARC.

Thanks in advance,

The only question I can answer is ARC works fine. It is NOT on every HDMI channel. The manual clearly says which HDMI channels handle ARC. I never use that feature but I have tested it and it works fine. You had some other questions which I am not qualified to answer since I have NO 4K.

I can still run 10 positions. The program is the same, but the input screen is different depending on the model. On new models it was possible with the previous release.
Pretty sure it is only a sw bug Anthem will fix as soon as they realize it.

I think you're probably right. But I'm still waiting for support to get back to me.

In the mean time, I'm trying to setup the remote control codes on my Pronto. It seems that the Anthem takes a little while to get ready before it can actually take another IR code. My current setup requires a 6.7 second delay before the input can be switched.

This is a pretty long time to wait whilst everything else is ready to go (i.e. the TV and other components like a bluray player). Anyone know if this is just how it is or is there a way to make the Anthem startup faster?

Cheers,

Anthem support has gotten back to me. They are trying to recreate the issue on their end. Re: the image of the couch, that has no bearing on the actual processing - they think/hope. Which makes sense, As I'm assuming it's just an image.

I also raised some questions re: mic placement and distances from the MLP. And from what they've said, it doesn't matter if you have more than one listening position.
You are to measure from the MLP and from there create a X 2ft away from the MLP. It does not matter if it doesn't cover the entire couch (all the listening positions). This is quite different from say Dirac or Audyssey - so it's interesting to me.

Stop notifications? Ignore the email? Read the post in the email/determine it is not helpful & ignore?

Also, though they told me the new IOS app was coming soon it's still not out.

I'm subscribed to so many active posts that I turned off email notifications. I just know that when I have some time each day, I head over to AVS and it shows me a listing of all of the threads that I've subscribed to. That way there are no annoying emails when I don't have time to check them out anyway.

Just a thought, then again, I just spawned another email alert for you. Sorry about that. Not criticizing, just stating that I was in your shoes a few years back and made the switch to not get email notifications.

It's the same difference either way, I check my subscribed threads and see that there's activity, only to find pointless whining.

No prob, doesn't really bother me that much, just wonder sometimes if folks really think those sort of posts actually accomplish anything... It's not like the folks at Anthem are just out playing hockey or something, until they see some random post whining about DTS:X, and think "Hey, yeah, we forgot to release that didn't we"

So whining about promised features that are not released is bad, whining about whining is ok?

...and you know what I bet certain they scan these forums and they bloody well should and give us the feature we paid for many months ago which other MF have released long ago and no I no longer care of explanations why it has not been released, they took my money long ago.

I was just trying to make a point, that do you really think a off hand post here is going to speed up Anthem's QC process? Do you think Anthem is just sitting on the DTS:X update waiting for someone to post on a forum to remind them to release it? Do you think they forgot we're waiting impatiently for it?

I'd think if you really wanted to show them that you're impatiently waiting, an email directly to them would be far more effective than a post in an internet forum.

I just don't see what such posts add to the discussion here. We all know it's not here yet, we all are impatiently waiting for it, we all wish their first estimate had been right, but there's nothing a post on a forum can do to help.

It takes them days to respond to actual support requests. For me, posting here is an escape valve & commiserating with like minded enthusiasts helps it not feel so bad, kind of like when I am last in a long line and someone gets behind me. I'm not last anymore & feel better.

  • New anthem ARC-2 Software v1.5.4872
  • New anthem MRX 1120/720/520/AVM60 Software Upgrade v67

http://www.anthemav.com/support/latest-software.php

The firmware filename indicates it's dated 14 December, and it loaded just fine on my MRX1120.

Firmware changelog:
Quote:
1. (AVM 60 and MRX 1120/720) Added dtsX decoding and Neural:X upmixing, including compatibility with Dolby Enabled upfiring speakers.

Info:

DTS:X dialog level control - this applies only to dtsX sources making use of the function. To raise or lower the level of the dialog (actor voices), use the PG/PR up/down buttons on the remote. The range is 0-6 dB, default 3 dB.

DTS Neural:X uses all speakers in a DTS:X system for an immersive audio experience, creating separation by placing sounds at different points in the sound field. This mode does not apply to DTS:X Master Audio, DTS:X, Dolby Atmos, Dolby TrueHD, and Dolby Digital Plus sources

DTS Neural:X setup (input setup menu) - When the source is a DTS stream, Direct mode plays the audio channels as they were recorded, whereas Non-Direct mode (default) adapts the audio to your speaker layout if it is different from the content creator’s.

2. Updated HDMI code library.

3. Improvements to CEC power-on.

4. Headphone downmix wasn't working properly - fixed.

5. Fix for odd input setup display when exactly 8 inputs were configured.

6. (AVM 60 and MRX 1120/720) If Dolby Volume was enabled before running ARC, height channels weren't producing test tones - fixed.

7. Fix for too many characters in IP feedback.

8. Removed Control4 ID Tx from setup menu.
ARC-2 Changes:
Quote:
1. Improved subwoofer cutoff frequency selection for cases with extreme response dips.

2. Fixed issue where ARC could crash if connection attempts were not acknowledged.

3. Graph range increased to 20 kHz, but note that as always measured result above 5 kHz is often unreliable.

4. Q range when loading certain older files adjusted for compatibility. If you are loading a file that was created quite a while ago, clicking Targets, Auto-Detect, OK, Calculate, Upload is recommended before uploading the file.

5. Changes related to in-development powered speakers which use ARC.

I like cars, airplanes, running, and coding || current gear: two eyes, two ears, one brain, and some other junk.

So the same limitation, in respect to Dolby tracks, as Marantz/Denon (or did D&M fix that?). Excellent news overall though!
