The firmware filename indicates it's dated 14 December, and it loaded just fine on my MRX1120.
I just received my MRX 720 today. Talk about great timing. I guess everyone got their Christmas wish. See there is a Santa Clause.

Thanks for posting this.

Calibrations

So we now have dts:x . In the DTS:X thread they are saying it is best to use FH+RH as the speaker position for dts:x, even if your speaker position is TF+TR for dolby atmos. That would be front on wall and back on wall for us mrx owners. Since we can calibrated for up to 4 speaker profiles , we can have one for atmos , and one for dts:x. When calibrating use the TF+TR for atmos , then have a separate calibration for dts:x with FH+RH and switch between the two .

Hi,
I can not get my Anthem MRX 520 to upmix any 2.0 sources to 5.1. It only plays the surround mode that is inputting into the 520. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to change? In input setup for preset for stereo source I have it at last used. Then I should be able to use mode on the remote to change surround formats I thought?

If I am understanding the question, I think you need to go into input setup & select the mode you want to use.

The choices are Mode for Preset Stereo source & Multi channel source. (on my 720)

It's only not working on my Bluray input. DIRECTV and my Apple TV I can select different sound formats like Dolby and neo and it upmixes from 2.0 to 5.1. Maybe i will hook the player up to another hdmi input and try that.
I don't see a option for multi channel source in my 520 only preset stereo source. I have that at set to last used. Maybe it's different then the 720.

I'd think if you really wanted to show them that you're impatiently waiting, an email directly to them would be far more effective than a post in an internet forum.

I just don't see what such posts add to the discussion here. We all know it's not here yet, we all are impatiently waiting for it, we all wish their first estimate had been right, but there's nothing a post on a forum can do to help.

And...... I am out of town. Figures. I won't be home for a few days, and with a pending Christmas party at our house a day after we get back, plus heading back out of town on Friday for Christmas, it might be the new year before I get to try out DTS:X...

dts x update

I installed the update and sadly the anthem mrx remote app for android remains broken when you update the firmware. You have to roll back 2 previous firmwares to get this to work.

However DTS Play Fi works great on android now; those connection issues seem to be gone. For anyone who enjoys listening to music in hi res this feature is awesome. I have used many different music file formats and it handles them all like a champ.

I will try out the DTS X codec later this weekend after I re-calibrate my system.

Well quick verdict. Tested with my usual test subjects, DTS:X demos and some music that's graet with DSU. I much prefer DSU, it sounds fuller, more refined and more detailed. Neural X seem to be using the overhead more but still DSU wins for me so far for overall immersion and quality. Will watch a native movie next as that will be the real deal and will also test some games.

Is there a button on the remote that can quickly switch between Dolby surround and neural x? Or does it have to be done through the setup menu only?

Trying to see which I prefer. Looking forward to trying out Jason Bourne dts-x

Where do you change that I can't figure it out? OK found it will test now.

So far can't detect much of a difference.

..and still prefer ATMOS and DSU

X seems to make better use of the sourrounds but the SQ is just not up there IMO. It's hard to describe it feels like Dolby is more open and natural and X sounds more processed.

Tested Neural X with games. It's all over the place it assigns effects completely to the overhead channels that should be on the sides and cuts LFE completely quite often when it should not, DSU placed all effects perfectly. It needs more work.

From the release note:

DTS Neural:X setup (input setup menu) - When the source is a DTS stream, Direct mode plays the audio channels as they were recorded, whereas Non-Direct mode (default) adapts the audio to your speaker layout if it is different from the content creator’s.

Just got to reading this thread after being away for a bit. I am so all over this. I've got too many Christmas parties to go to, though (I know, first world problems, right?)! I'll check out Jason Bourne ASAP, but I'm also really excited about testing out Ex Machina. Updates like these are like breathing fresh life into my HT. I want to go test out a bunch of my favourite movies and compare/contrast, etc. This is gonna be fun. The kids can have their lego, this big kid is going to his home theater and tinkering!

Are you saying that you don't have the option in the input setup menu for your bluray player or are you saying that regardless of the setting, the sound is not being upmixed?

If it's the former, that seems very strange. All of my inputs on my 520 allow me to set the option. If it is the latter, maybe it's a bitstream vs. LPCM setting on your bluray player causing the material to not be upmixed. Just a thought sent it works on your other devices.

UPDATE 12-19-16: A system reset fixed my issue -- DTS:X MA now fully working on my 7.1.4 system. (Helicopter flyover at the beginning of ex_machina sounds great!)

[Original post]:
I'm having a problem (MRX 1120) in that video/blu-rays with DTS:X audio tracks are not playing any audio after the update. Examples include the ex_machina blu-ray and the DTS:X demo disc. The OSD shows "DTS:X MA", but sound is silent. All other formats (DTS-HD MA 5.1, DD, Dolby Atmos, DD+, MultiPCM, etc) all seem to be working fine, just not DTS:X. I have tried from multiple different sources (Samsung UHD, Xbox One w/bitstreaming, Plex on Media PC, Plex on Nvidia Shield TV, etc) and the result is exactly the same.

Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks!

I'll be wathcing Crimson peak soon as well and The last survivor on UHD but so far I am not blown away Atmos sounds better and Neural X is a bit of a mess in terms of assigning channels. I am not giving it positive marks just because it is expected, this is my honest opinion.

I think the native dts x (bourne movies) sound great.

But I prefer Dolby surround over neural x on the upmixes. Agree with bandyka.

So I have updated to to the new firmware just now. Didn't have a chance yesterday. Whats the general consensus on re calibrating ARC? Think it's needed or just re upload the file I'm currently using just do the targets and calculation?

Anyone else experiencing this? Thanks!
No. My update experience was flawless. I would do a reset and start over.

I had no issues updating, as far as ARC, I installed it's update, ran the calibration on my existing file & uploaded it to the 720 & saved the resulting file.
