Of course I may made a mistake since this is based on my quick experiment with ears only, however must not be that far and I'm ready to be corrected as I'm looking for correct answer not to insist on my own opinion.

And still my questions not yet answered, what is the frequency range of bass sent to sub from large mains when extra bass on?

http://www.audioholics.com/home-thea...ing-extra-bass
I did read the article and it looks like they mentioned extra bass will duplicate the frequency between 50-80Hz. Is it true for all brand and model? Because the article looks like generalizing extra bass for all brands and model which might be applicable or not for Yamaha 3050.

Can someone clear something up for me? Does the 2050 do 7.2.4 with the addition of an external amp, or do I need the 3050 for that?

2050 9 Chanel processing 5.1.4 and 7.1.2
3050 11 Chanel processing hence 7.1.4 but only 9 internal amp so needs ext amp for 2 channel if 7.1.4

Thanks. That's unfortunate. I was deciding between the sc95 and a2050 and was leaning towards the yamaha. A few hundred extra kind of changes things.

Can these receivers take HDCP 2.2 UHD sources and down-convert them to HDCP 1.4 1080p for the Zone 2 output?

Nope. An HDCP 2.2 source would require an HDCP 2.2 display unless using a 3rd party device (eg. HD Fury Integral) to pass the video to a non-HDCP 2.2 display.

That is not strictly speaking true, as long as you are downgrading the resolution to 1080p.

Denon and Marantz models allow you to use a specific crossover for the FL/FR speakers when set to LARGE (eg. 40 Hz / 60 Hz / 80 Hz / 90 Hz, or higher). Not sure what the high cut is for the Yamaha, although likely 80Hz.

Thanks for replying. So finally I decided to hook up my PC and make some measurement myself.
It looks like the extra bass doing the following.

1. Main set to small.
Sub doesn't change however the main received about 3db boost of bass which is starting from your crossover frequency up to 120 Hz. If your crossover is higher than 120 Hz the boost is not applied or little to none (it looks like the receiver add the extra bass first before cutting the signal using crossover so the result abouve 120Hz still affected slightly even though no direct boost).

2. Main set to large.
Main doesn't change however sub also plays same signal from mains starting from 80Hz down to your sub natural roll off. Might be wrong with the natural roll off though since the low cut is kinda hard to measure as maybe it is my sub which can't go so low (Yamaha NS-SW700, -10db at 20Hz).

The SC-95 will do 7.2.4 with external amplification. I'm trying to see what kind of deals I can get on the 3050, but I can get the 95 for about 1150, so I don't know that the difference won't be significant.

Why is that yelling, man? We are not Yamaha's official authority. If you like to know when the update will be released just visit Yamaha web site and check there for yourself - it is that simple, yes.

But yelling at us like that is very rude, don't you think.

Bold or capital is silent yelling there Clyde cooth, that's pretty standard across the internet. If you're all worked up, simply count to 10 before letting the horse loose. Maybe call your manufacturer or email but I'd suggest a little restraint. Comes with wisdom. You'll see.

For those the 2050 or 3050, will "V.out" (in the Input settings under the Option menu) allow me to listen to the tuner while watching another video source, all through a main zone HDMI output? If "yes", does this work for zone 2 HDMI also?

I want this for simulcasting tuner audio with broadcast video of sporting events.
