MTS:X AND HDMI 2.0a update?
You are now chatting with Rajneesh
Rajneesh:Thank you for contacting Yamaha AV Support
Rajnesh:Hi Michael, the update is supposed to come out by the end of March.
Rajnesh:That's all the information that we have so far about the update release.
M:It's almost the end of march, do you have a date?
Rajnesh:We do not have a confirmed date yet.
M:I was told by the tech support that the update will be release March 23rd
M:Is that statement true?
Rajnesh:I wouldn't agree to that as I do not have a confirmed release date.
M:Can you please ask your supervisor,if he/she heard anything about the update?
Rajnesh:I just confirmed with my supervisor and he confirmed that it is scheduled to be out end of March.
M:Ok Thanks!
Rajnesh:Thanks for contacting Yamaha Customer Support. Have a great day.

I've noticed something very strange "to me at least", I played the Amaze Atmos clip while the 3050 DSP was on Spectacular, when the clip reached to the thunder sound, the center channel was hitting very hard, it was hitting like a subwoofer. I was really scared thought I've damaged the speaker.

Is this normal operation of the DSP? Can some body check?

Got the clip from this website...

From that chat I don't get the impression that tomorrow is definitely a "no go." I get the impression that the operator and his supervisor are at some call center offering low-level help for people with their equipment. I'll continue to be optimistic that the tech support person knows more than the call center guys.

Everyone comparing the Atmos vs DTS:X should be very precise with the audio levels.Just about every Atmos title release's audio level is @ +4.
Please check the audio level for DTS:X and make sure it's at the same level.
4 decibels does make a difference.Back in the day,DTS was the one that usually had their volume cranked up and now it's the other way around.

He just wants to make sure that we ALL know that he is on top of this.

Sit back and wait for Movie78 to tell us the news. He's got this.

Irrelevant since there is no identical movie with both Atmos and DTS:X to compare each other too.

But thanks.

I've already set up scenes for this as I expect DTS X to be a little quieter so why not set one up for Atmos and another for DTS X. We have 12 scenes so why not use them. Its only a pain that the ir control only has 1 to 4 but the app on the phone is a ripper and you can select anything from 1 to 12 in a jiffy

They are right now "brand new", so nothing really to compare with... to be fair.
I think the Atmos roll out was done 100x better than DTS.

Someone here probably made it up. Its not like Yamaha to give an exact date for any update. Since this one also involves the cooperation of a 3rd party (DTS) it seems even less likely.

Watched Mockingjay Pt 2 last night and experienced the same audio dropouts that plagued me with The Big Short. At this point I can't rule anything out, but what really bug's me about it is that I never had this happen once with any of the Marantz I owned or even the Pioneer I was trying. This is the same HTPC I have been using since early January and up till this last week (when I introduced the Yamaha) has been great. It's a very disappointing situation as I love the Yamaha, but if it can't play nice with my HTPC I may have to go elsewhere. Going to try Mockingjay again today off of disc on my Samsung UBD player to see if it occurs. Maybe it is a faulty unit from Yamaha. It could happen.

FYI: I watched same movie last night with same player+receiver (see sig) and no audio issues. Both Part 1 & 2 are good looking/sounding discs, even though I expected a bit more action.

After spending 50+ years in the software development business I can assure you that virtually any non-trivial program will have bugs. Best you can hope for is that there are known bugs.

I know there's going to bugs,so I don't know why some people are bashing D+M DTS:X update with bugs, every device release these days have bugs.
At least, they got their update.

Yeah, that's good thinking.

"Hey! I got the update before you. Haha! It's full of bugs but.... I got it first!"

Movie78 must have a best friend who has a Denon or Marantz and constantly gives him s**t about having DTS:X before he does.

Or something.... idk but jesus dude.

So if all goes as planned, that will give us two weeks to recover before the first day of NABSHOW 2016 (April 16) . . . after which we can start debating when Dolby will release an add-on|update to Atmos that supports their new AC-4 immersive|interactive audio codec.

But thanks.
It's 100% relevant. Compile 2 groups of action movies.Lower one group's decibels by 4 and I guarantee you they will not sound as good as the the other group whose volume wasn't lowered.Haven't you heard of movies like the second Avengers where you had so many complaints that the sound was underwhelming? Or even the second Transformers that was the same way. There wasn't another lossless track for these movies to do a direct comparison but even the Yamaha was able to confirm that the second Transformers was at -4 decibels lower. You DO NOT need a direct comparison to know that an audio track is underwhelming.
BTW, The Lucy blu ray with Atmos is in my top 3 all time for best Atmos tracks thus far. This movie wasn't much of anything but if you listen to the Atmos track,it will blow you away!
