Denon S910w question..

My old onkyo receiver bit the dust, so after much research, I decided on a Denon s910w due to it having hdmi 2.0 and full 4k ability.

We'll I hooked it all up and it works great. However, half the time when I start it up the volume is super low. I have to turn it off then back on for it to work normally again.

Anyone know why this is happening??

Average volume would be about 40-60. The AVR should remember the last volume used when it was powered off unless you are using a Quick Select button to power on the AVR, then it will always start at 40 unless you change it to another value.

For more helpful information on the S910W, review posts 3-6 in the 2015 Denon AVR Owner's thread.

No, I mean it's whisper quiet and the volume level doesn't effect it at all. It's definitely not normal

This sounds like a problem I have noted with my X3000. If you send a command to it before the power light has stopped blinking it will come up in a muted state (not always, but often enough). In my case the only fix is to unplug it and plug it back in after a few minutes since the front panel controls are usually unresponsive. I have never experienced this problem if I wait until the unit is fully "booted up".

BTW, the setup screens allow you to choose what turn on volume you want and you can also do this via the web application embedded in your receiver.

Try doing a soft reset by simply unplugging the power cord for 10 minutes. If still no joy, reset the microprocessor as noted in post 5 of the Owner's thread ...
