No news on the higher models likely until this summer, but doubtful as just too small a market and much easier to sell 9CH models and have the customer add a slim line 2CH amp.

Thanks... I think it's crazy because I think the NR3030 is/was a real sales hit. Or am I wrong?

And we all read 7.1.4 is the way to go ultimate. If you have WAF for two speakers, four would not be the issue anymore

But we will see what's in store for the summer.

Thanks JD! I believe this is the first corroborating news in NA. If the European information is accurate, the RZ3000 will hopefully follow.

Close enough...my money was on you all the way! To me, this is an indicator that Onkyo is, once again, seriously in pursuit of a leadership position. My eye is still on on-board 11 channel capability so this official U.S. press release confirmation is exactly what I've been looking for...now my waiting begins in earnest! And my options now include the pre-pro...hmmm.

BTW: Do I recall correctly that you have the 900?

I too believe that we have only heard just a little of what is to come. I wasn't expecting the RZ610, I did have a feeling there would be some upgrades and as I said before I couldn't believe that the current flagship RZ900 would be going away......Now with the RZ810 being so close to the RZ900 in specs, I wonder what will happen to it when the RZ1000/RZ3000 shows up.

I do have the RZ900 in my living room. It is an interesting story as to why I have it, as my NR838 was doing a great job in that space. Let's just say a friend told me that if I bought the RZ900 I would forget all about the NR838 or he/she would give me every penny I paid for it back if I thought it wasn't better. Disclaimer: This friend nor I, work for Onkyo. I'm in the process of remodeling my basement theater this spring and since I want to have both ATMOS and DTS:X (who knows what will become of either or both formats)is the reason that I'm eagerly awaiting a RZ1000/RZ3000. Yes I could just buy the Denon x7200WA, but I still have a couple months and something new "might" happen.

Okay so finally some news on the bigger RZ-series. Great news...!
Only one thing still is uncertain... Later this year.. Hmzzz

Did you all notices the finish (color) on the 10 series? Is it plastic?
I believe the 00 series is real aluminum?
Can someone confirm on the Rz900?

Can someone tell me why Onkyo seems to be avoiding 5.1.4 capability with an outboard amp in the RZ800 and 900 series receivers? Even the new RZ810 manual omits the option for 5.1.4 even though it has full preouts. Doesn't the Denon X4200 and up allow for this?

Okay thanks. Here in the Netherlands we don't have that detailed comparison page.

Multiple sites reporting "Onkyo said the RZ series will be further expanded later this year with the 9.2-channel TX-RZ1100 network receiver and two 11.2-channel components—the TX-RZ3100 network receiver and PR-RZ5100 network pre-processor".

Just piggy backing on what Zimmo said about the Onkyo RZ1100 and 3100.

soundandvision.com

Onkyo to Expand Receiver Series in April

Onkyo said the RZ series will be further expanded later this year with the 9.2-channel TX-RZ1100 network receiver and two 11.2-channel components—the TX-RZ3100 network receiver and PR-RZ5100 network pre-processor.

(Sorry, had to remove links since I am a newbie.)

My guess is they are drip releasing all their new toys monthly. Mid year is my guess for the 1100 and 3100.

Nor could I...the 800/900 have been receiving acclaim all along throughout Europe and recently here in NA. Like yourself, I was thinking an annual updated progression for the series...i.e. 8X0 and 9X0. The 610 and 710 intro were a surprise for me as well...especially on the heels of the NR 656 and 757. Logically and from a marketing perspective, I don't understand the overlap in model naming convention for the 6 and 7 with the NR series...just doesn't make sense to me to. Why not 3xx - 7xx for the NR and 8xx - 3xxx for the RZ? Perhaps the goal is to establish a prominent/elite "custom integration" RZ series and the NR numbers will attrit in time. Oh well!

I recently sold my 809 and bought the 636 as an interim piece to experiment with Atmos. I found 3D sound to be an absolute game changer and decided to pursue it 100%. Once Atmos is properly configured, there is no going back...you have an exciting experience waiting for you. In preparation, I installed six (TF, TM, TR) in-ceiling speakers in my basement dedicated theater. As a result, you don't know how close I came to getting the 3030 or the 900 and move the 636 upstairs to the living room! The rumors in Europe last December of the 1000/3000 ultimately set my course/objective for 9 or 11 channels. In the interim, I did have an x6200w to audition and later also considered the x7200wa. I have had Denon flagships (5600 & 5800) in the past and loved their build and sound quality. In recent years, I have come to prefer Onkyo's SQ over recent D&M offerings. For me, above all, native SQ is the most important element. The other features, including RC, are secondary. Let's hope the waiting will be over soon.

Read in these threads that Harman/Kardon is no longer in the home audio consumer business (AVR's)...have not seen anything relative to a collaboration with Onkyo.

Look at the bottom of this site. http://rzseries.onkyousa.com
Integration Partner... In which way?

After some further digging. I think it has something to do with "seamless integration" with racks and professional solutions.

With the RZ series targeted for the "custom installation market" and "discerning audiophile," it's probably a good bet. I believe the AMX portion of AMX-Harman was into AV control systems...also saw partnership with Middle Atlantic Products (racks)...so yeah...getting into the "integrated solutions" market in a big way.

In addition to announcements from Onkyo's press release and Sound&Vision, there were similar announcements in Home Theater Review, Digital Trends, and High-Def Digest.

In Denmark? Don't know. AVS won't be taking USA pre-orders likely until May when we have pricing info.

Curious to know what the difference on how the receivers are built up compared to the RZ900. If you look at the speakers terminals.

Other amps? Any thoughts?

With the naming convention apparently now being RZ1100 and RZ3100, suggest you ask a mod to edit the thread title accordingly.

Being the upper end flagship models, my money would be on the higher quality build found on the 900...ie heavy/thick aluminum faceplate, gold plated speaker terminals, etc. At least, this would be my expectation.
