Onkyo TX-RZ1100 and TX-RZ3100

In late December, European publications (France & Germany) reported rumors of Onkyo possibly announcing at CES 2016 new flagship AVR's replacing current TX-NR1030 and TX-NR3030 models. I have not seen or read of any CES announcements in this regard. I did however come across this today in what appears to be a Polish publication. I obviously cannot substantiate its validity.

Would be nice if they had class A/B as an option for 2/ch audio, the rest being class D. Honestly, all other manufactures are looking to leave class A/B for class G, or H this year.

Glad I didn't pull the trigger on the TX-RZ900.
That TX-RZ3000 with 11.2 channels of Class D amplification and MCACC Pro calibration, looks pretty tempting.
Plus it's going on sale this spring.
So there's no need to wait until summer.

Are you in the U.S.? If you are, where have you seen "any" information pertaining to a U. S. Release and pricing?

Thanks zimmo! Can you post the link referring to the U.S. pricing and introduction dates? Also, were there any additional specification information...specifically physical data...i.e. weight?

If onkyo can deliver all that goodness with reasonable price, with their distribution channels, the other big avr manufacturers may be in trouble. They are probably watching onkyo closely

Onkyo, historically, has provided more value and leading edge features before the competition...hopefully, this trend continues...and with Pioneer's contributions...certainly something to look forward to.

If that indeed turns out to be the MSRP for the TX-RZ3000, I'll place my order asap!
But seems to be a little low, for all that your getting.

BTW-I wonder if Onkyo will keep its THX certification, for the 2016 models?

Simple translations like that don't always work, as manufacturers often price differently for different markets. If they were to be at those prices, and indeed have the number of channels of amplification stated above, they would sell a lot quickly

I am pretty leary about buying a Onkyo AVR... They have had a string of issues with various components, IDE connectors, HDMI boards, display panels. Their quality control is horrendous. i have had three TOTL Onkyo receivers in the past few years and every one of them failed.
NODES and protectedvoid like this.

If it's not a BIG screen, it's not a theater...

While not defending onkyo, people on avs boards are minuscule amount of onkyo users out there. There are a lot of success stories with onkyo too.

I agree...but I'm thinking a bit closer to $2500.

Current Onkyo flagship models:

MSRP/ Street (new)
TX-NR1030 $1699/ $1139
TX-NR3030 $2399 (2299)*/ $1505

*recent price drop

I would anticipate MSRP's for the new RZ1000/3000 models to be the same or slightly higher than the models they're replacing.

As I mentioned above, I'm one of the success stories you referenced. It's normal for those w/o issues to be less vocal and those with issues to vocalize. Damage control is always difficult but I find that Onkyo's acknowledgement of their product failures and subsequent solution to be a step in the right direction.

I'm with you on that. Of course they could price at what the original MSRP was for the 1030 and 3030 and also I guess we have to keep in mind that they are competing with Denon, so maybe they will be priced a little lower than the Denon 6200W and 7200WA.

There is also the burden of RC licensing fees...presumably none for Onkyo (In house: AccuEQ/MCACC) and Audyssey for D+M pieces.

Been surfin the net a couple of times a week...no new info that I've come across. Other than the earlier rumors/presumptions from the European publications and @zimmo posting below...no new info at all. It is curious as to why there has been absolutely no news/info from Onkyo themselves.

Onkyo probably doesn't want to hurt sales of its current line of receivers.
If folks find out how great the RZ1000 and RZ3000 features are, they'll be reluctant to buy the 2015 models.

I seriously doubt that is the case. When they do release the new receivers, price will drop on the 2015 models and people that don't need or can't afford the 2016 high end models will continue to buy the older models.

This crossed my mind as well...but rumors (founded or unfounded) were already circulating in Europe.

Yep...this typically is the scenario. But this only leads me to speculate that possibly...

(1) The products are not ready for introduction for some reason.
(2) On hold...waiting for DTS:X improvements/readiness...DTS:X implementation in Denon's X7200WA is not without issue and may have been premature to market.
(3) Corporate delay due to business decisions around Onkyo/Pioneer flagship models.
(4) Combinations of the above.
(5) Or worse case: The European rumors were pure rumor.

Here's hoping I'm totally off base and we'll be hearing some positive news shortly.

Anyone else care to speculate?
