Is audyssey multiEQ XT that much different than basic audyssey Multi EQ

I have an older 2011 denon avr with the basic audyssey multi eq with 6 measuring points, 2x filter on satellites and dynamic eq and dynamic volume.

The next step up for me is a newer receiver (2200/3200) with audyssey silver which is 8 listening positions, and 16x filter for satellites. The sub filter is the same on both, 128x.

If I retain same room set up, same speakers and use the same movie in a hypothetical situation, is the newer audyssey silver multi eq xt supposed to create a noticeable surround sound improvement over my current avr with basic audyssey multi eq or do you need to have audyssey xt32 at the least to really hear the difference.

When looking at the audysey chart, the only difference I notice between my current audyssey and the audyssey xt is 2 extra listening positions and 16x for satellites vs 2x for filter resolution.

Hard to imagine 2 extra listening position tests and a few extra filters on the satellites makes a HUGE difference unless in the last 5 years since I bought my avr audysey has improved dramatically.

Any opinions on whether the jump to the next audyssey may be beneficial or it I need to go to xt32 at the minimum to reap the benefits.

I was wondering the same as well. I've been considering a "B" stock Marantz SR6009 that has audyssey xt32.

Kef LS50,Q200C, Q100, Kef Kube 10B (X2) , Denon AVR-X3400H, NAD 216 THX, Panasonic 50" Plasma, Xbox One.
Bedroom: Kef Q100 ,JBL Loft 20, SVS SB-2000, Denon AVR-S710W, PS3, 32" Insigna LED.

The SR6009 is the 2014 model which only uses XT, rather you would have to upgrade to the SR7009 for XT32.

Although going from MultEQ --> XT won't provide as noticeable an improvement as going from MultEQ --> XT32, there should be some improvement. Additionally, the "X" series models offer an extra year of warranty and Zone 2 pre-outs.

As mentioned, you need XT32. The other steps are very minor at best.
