Also Denon made a major marketing blunder, they decided to go for AVR market share and expanded distribution beyond control expanding many internet sellers...
End-result was complete a financial debacle as Denon had a strong loyalty with the AV/CEDIA specialists but when the market Denon AVR internet sell prices plunged their AV distributors dropped the brand due to sub-par profits...

Fast-forward to now...
D&M Holdings has stabilized but is now concentrating on other product categories such as HEOS wireless products for improved profit margins...

Just my $0.02...

Just my $0.02...
This is my last retail phone call experience with a local store that handled denon...

Me: Hi I would like a price on a receiver and some speakers...
Them: We don't do that over the phone
Me: ...lol... you don't do that over the phone ???
Them: No, ... not usually... anyway, what did you need ?
Me: a denon 6200 and some
Them: DENON IS JUNK, WE DON'T SELL DENON ANYMORE, EVERY ONE WE SOLD IN THE LAST 2 YEARS HAS COME BACK!
Me: oh... ...
Them: can I interest you in an onkyo or yamaha ?
Me: i'll... get back to you...
Click.

I know the owner/manager and told him I would give him first crack at the sale.
He apologized about the phone call and quoted me full retail price for a RXA3050 (said he had no room to move on this) along with about 15% off retail price on 3 pairs of surround speakers and a center channel for a total of $4500.

I had to shop out of town and got the 3050 for $300 less and am going DIY on the rest of the speakers.

I expect this local shop will be closing its doors soon.

Denon AVR-X2200W vs Yamaha RX-V779

Im no fan of Denon, in fact if one goes trough my previous posts will find that, that being said, it is funny to watch Yamaha distributors bash Denon. I get it though. It is a simple human nature to be a fan boy of one thing over the other.

I like yamaha avrs but they are not without sins. Also, can really compare a behemoth like Yamaha corp, with its many profitable divisions, to D&M which was a victim of parasites like Baine capital.

I want to see a healthy D&M and onkyo and pioneer. We have to have a healthy competition in this space otherwise yamaha will stop trying and will inflate their prices. I still remember the world where intel and nvidia had no competition and it was a painful time for consumers.
