Thanks so much Mike. I tried to get that spreadsheet at this URL:

Code:

But even after registering at that site and then trying a diff browser, I don't see a way to get to it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry—I feel like a real dunce here, but I don't see it! This is what I see in Firefox, Safari, Chrome and even in MS Edge:

With my previous Pioneer SC-LX76 AVR the info button would show both the received video and audio input as well what was being output.
The info button on the X6300H only shows the received audio input signal but not the video signal.
Doesn't the X6300H support such an option?

Well obviously I didn't based on the contents of my last post, lol and this is a good lesson to not use the faqs section of this thread as a biblical source on all things Denon. I normally go directly to Denon's site but oddly enough for the X2300 model they mention the interface in its features section but then list it as not available in the specs section marked with an x . Next time I'll just look at a picture of the receivers back😏.

Oh jeez I'm embarrassed. That site's login error message was too quick for me, and I never realized I wasn't successfully logged in.

Nevertheless I have the doc now, thank you. This is a tremendous help!

So I'm looking at the specs of the 930, why would anyone buy the 2300 or 3300 over it? It has DV, higher wattage, decent enough Audessey.

Sure the In Commands have RS232 and 'better' audessey, but what else are you missing if you get the 930? It seems like a monster value compared to them, is build quality the difference rather than features?

Edit, NM I see it's 90 watts at 8 ohm for the 930H.

Although wattage difference is moot, both the X2300W (95W) and X3300W (105W) have a higher wattage than the S930W (90W) and more features as well as an extra year of warranty and higher versions of Audyssey. Additionally the X3300W features the highest version of Audyssey MultEQ XT32 and Sub EQ HT (dual sub level/delay).

Yeah I see they aren't even consistent on their own models, advertising the 3300 as 105 and the 930 at 185 when it's really 90 when driving 8ohm. Derp. Will probably upgrade to the 3300 if I can find a decent price and if the DV upgrade really works. You guys can thank me cause I'm sure the 3400 will drop 31 days later.

Hi guys, i am in a bit of confusion here as I recently upgraded from Onkyo 5008 AVR with its ever awesome AUDYSSEY DSX FW/FH setup which I was in love with so many years. Much to my surprise, i found out its not supported anymore. So I need to setup my room for Auro3d+DTS X+Dolby Atmos. Its a fairly large room 20 x 20. My new Denon X4300h supports 9.2 and after doing a quick search, i came up with Auro3d's page where they mentioned that 5.1.4 is the setup which can be supported by all three technologies (Auro3d,Dolby Atmos and DTS X).

Currently I have the following basic 5.1 setup with these speakers:

L/R - Focal 826 Standing
Center - Focal CC800
Surround (at 110 degrees) - Klipsch Bipole RS42
Sub - SVS PB-2000

Question 1 :But I need to know what is the highest possible speaker configuration I can go upto with 7 more speakers at hand for the mentioned three sound technologies even if it requires me to buy additional power amps? the extra speakers i have are :

2 x Focal Chorus 806 bookshelf
5 x The Speaker Company's TSAT2000's satellite (love these!)

Would really like to have the TS ceiling (voice of God) and yes important thing is i do not wish to install them 'in the ceiling', i can just drill for an additional beam or some sort of frame to hang them downwards.

Question 2: Is it possible to go upto the maximum combined speaker limit with having the SAME LAYOUT? i read that AURO 3D and Dolby Atmos can both work in the same layout (Surround back speakers as per dolby atmos can be used as surround height speakers for auro3d ). This is important cause I really would like to have the same layout for all sound technologies using all the additional speakers i have

Question 3: It would be great if you guys could recommend which of the speakers i listed above should go in what location. Just a random thought: would those Klipsch Bipole speakers work better if I put them sideways on Front Height or Surround height back? that way they can fire both up and down, not sure just a wild guess.

Question 4: Which additional power amps would you suggest with this AVR and how many? can my SVS handle Front L+R speakers as it has an amp too? was looking at the ones from Anthem, they look pretty sweet but expensive too. Would old AVRs work (such as Denon AVR 2106, Yamaha RX-V690 or V550) if I just use them as Audio amps for additional channels?

Looking forward to responses. I have some other questions regarding Audyssey setup on this AVR which i'll consult from you people once I get this placement out of the way.

1. The only configuration that will work with all 3 formats is 5.1.4 using FH + RH, however, if you added 2 Surround Back speakers + 2CH external amp, although they would work with Atmos and DTS:X, they would be silent with Auro 3D. Additionally, although you can add the TS/VOG speaker + 1CH external amp for Auro 3D, it would be silent for Atmos and DTS:X.

2. Sure, but obviously not ideal.

oh ok thanks- so there is no possibility of having any 7.1 combined configuration?

I picked up a 1300 today in Canada for 250 off to replace my v381 Yamaha. I wanted a receiver that would get a Dolby vision update as I'm getting the lg player. Setup was easy and firmware was updated with no problems. Arc works perfectly with my e6 oled. I find dynamic eq works not bad on its lowest setting of 15. I never used those setting before with my theatre room but now that I live in a condo it's a nice one to have.

It depends on which picture you look at. The 230volt model in the attached photo says no, but the line drawing in the Owners Manual says yes.

Right .. the line drawing on the USA model as the European model does not feature RS-232.

As I fiddle with my X4300H I continue to understand a little more. I installed HEOS on my iPhone and got Amazon Music (I have Prime) working. I then discovered that once HEOS is fired up and a music app running, neither is required anymore. I closed HEOS on my phone and the receiver kept running music. So the receiver itself is streaming music via my wife, I presume, and requires no help from my phone. I had thought the phone was streaming to the receiver, but apparently not.

I also learned that the free Spotify will only run from the HEOS app on the mobile device. It will not connect to the receiver. It is possible to use Airplay using my Apple TV and use Spotify that way. Then, of course, the mobile device is required to be running HEOS as long as music is desired.

Another question. I have run the Audessey setup and on at least one occasion (watching Jungle Book from by Oppo 93) found the vocals from the center channel being a bit dominated by all the other sounds. Can I boost the center speaker without undoing Audessey?

I also learned that the free Spotify will only run from the HEOS app on the mobile device. It will not connect to the receiver. It is possible to use Airplay using my Apple TV and use Spotify that way. Then, of course, the mobile device is required to be running HEOS as long as music is desired.

Another question. I have run the Audessey setup and on at least one occasion (watching Jungle Book from by Oppo 93) found the vocals from the center channel being a bit dominated by all the other sounds. Can I boost the center speaker without undoing Audessey?
Hmmm, I've been married three times (so far) but have yet to discover this feature.

Trust directv or Denon ?

Ok, so I just put together a new setup at a new house and I'm trying to see if I have an issue or not. Need some advice on how to debug/uncover issues.

My setup is:

LG 65" OLED
Denon S920W
DirecTV Genie HD tuner/recorder (forget model, the one that is not 4k ready awaiting SW upgrade)
PS4

I have the DTV and PS$ running to Denon via HDMI and an HDMI running to the LG.

The issus is this:
When I configure the directv box, I tell it to only output 1080p.
When I check Denon to report on the signal in from Directv, it says its 480p->480p

The picture looks awesome of course, its LG OLED. But my thought is that its getting upscaled somewhere and I'm not getting true 1080p signal.

So, do I trust directv ? or could Denon be wrong on the input ? or ?

Hi!

I have a Denon X3300w. Since the last update, when I power down my television, my receiver will shut down the main zone and then stay on with a dim screen and not shut down completely.

The TV is connected through arc and cec on the television and everything else is connected to the receiver.

Thanks in advance

I would suggest outputting "native" from the DTV receiver, ensuring "pass through" on the Denon and allowing the LG to do the upconversion. It will do it better (definitely better at upconversion than the technology in the DTV receiver) and only one time.

What you are trying to do can result in two conversions. Native 720P (e.g., Fox channel on DTV) would be upconverted to 1080P by the receiver and then to 2160P by the LG.
hughh likes this.

Spotify runs on my X6300H just like you describe for HEOS/Amazon...start Spotify from the HEOS app, shut both HEOS and Spotify down from the iPhone and Spotify continues to play from the X6300 along with being displayed on the X6300 screen. Same with the stand alone Spotify iPhone app.

Yes. Center channel level, as well as all other channels, can be adjusted without messing with Audyssey; Option/Channel Level/Center(or select any other channel to adjust). You might be better served with the dialog enhancer to help out with vocals; Option/Dialog Enhancer/(select Low, Medium, High or Off).
Johnny Angell and Madmax67 like this.

Except you have to have the Premium Version of Spotify. The free version will only run on the mobile device. Thank you for the tips on the two options.

It's a very exclusive, premium feature.

I just bought a x4300h and I was wondering if there is a way to easily adjust levels (surround, sub...etc...) during playback of a movie... thanks.
