Nothing happended. When AC is plugged, the AVR automatically enter in the "Update Retry" loop and eventually fail.
The first step of the reset procedure is to have the unit turned "off", but the power button has no effect, unless you hold it for a few seconds, it will reset (on -> off -> on) the unit.
When I hold the "TUNER PRESET CH+" and "TUNE -" simultaneously, and pressing
the power button does nothing.
When I hold the "TUNER PRESET CH+" and "TUNE -" simultaneously, and holding
the power button does reset (on -> off -> on) the unit, but then back to same.
The only "mode" I can get it into is the Forced USB All Device Write Mode (as defined in the service manual), the famous "USB AllUpdate...".
When this mode is activated, the CPU tries to update the firmware from the USB key, but always fail. Ending with a "Update Error0116" (defined as "CPU - Setup failure of the XModem transfer method" in the service manual).
It once got to 3% before failing. I can see that the CPU is reading the USB content because the USB status light is flashing.
That is why I'm looking at older firmware files to try with.
