You are able to adjust the volume levels of the speakers/sub after running Audyssey to suit your preference in either Manual Setup - Levels - Test Tones (global changes across all sources) or using Option - Channel Level Adjust (single source only).

That makes sense, thanks. In preparation for the 2 ceiling speakers that I am going to use I drew a diagram of how I understand it will hook up from AVR to AMP to Speakers. Could you (or anyone familiar with the SR-6011) confirm this is correct?

I plan to make the rear heights act as surround backs (which I realize isn't to Dolby spec, but worked well in my previous AVR setup). Would this amp assign work for my purposes?

You'll note the AudioSource Amp100VS is able to connect two sets of speakers, A+B. You only have one set, yet have one speaker connected to speaker B so move them over to the other speaker A posts.

Oh I thought it only did 2 speakers, not 2 sets. So would this be right? (Left and Right would be correctly placed)

Correct, as speakers B, however, you'll have to check the Owner's manual to determine whether Speakers A is recommended when only using one pair of speakers.

Good point. No reason to use b really - so fixed it up. I'll hook it up like this.

Is it possible that the 2016 models will have Dolby vision at any time as an update or does that require some proprietary Dolby hardware?

http://marantz-uk.custhelp.com/app/a...-compatibility

For the following models, Marantz will issue a firmware update to additionally support Dolby Vision and HLG (Hybrid Log Gamma) HDR pass-through:
NR1607, SR5011, SR6011, SR7011 and AV7703. It will happen either later this year or early next but it's coming regardless, which is good news.

Have you contacted either company for their recommendation? They might be a better source.

Hello all, I have a dying Pioneer Elite SC-57 and a Sony XBR 65X900A that is forming small bubbles between the glass and led. Well, I took the dive and bought the Marantz SR7011 and one of the last two LG OLED77G6P at the local Best Buy. However, I am considering returning the SR7011 because I hear that the SR7012 is coming out in Sept/Oct. Anyone know if the 7012 will have HDMI 2.1? I know the G6P is HDMI 2.0 so 2.1 will be useless now. I wanted to future proof the receiver as much as possible especially if it will have 2.1 in Sep/Oct. I considered waiting for 2.1 on TVs too but I wanted OLED with passive 3D. The G6P is the last of its kind so I have no other choice (have lots of 3D Blue Rays).

It wont ... the HDMI 2.1 spec hasn't even been released to the AVR mfr's yet. Look for the 2018 models to possibly be HDMI 2.1.

Speaker B question

Hi
Just orderd a SR 6011. Is it able to switch between a 7.1.2 set up and speaker B depending on input and channels, thats how I interpreted the manual see attachment? I would like to use speaker B in pure direct mode for 2 ch audio.

Yes. You can select Front Speaker = B for STEREO only listening.

Used both brands, no real differents in "sound", both are good.
Have now a SR7011 but like the "no need to flip down door" design more from Denon, if you like to see the big display.
Also like the Dialog Enhancer from Denon, but think the Audyssey app can do the same for Marantz who has no Dialog Enhancer.
For me personal its more the looks then sound that make the differents between D&M.

The following current models will meet your 9CH use case requirement: Marantz SR6011/SR7011; Denon X4300H/X6300H

Select the appropriate model based on your other feature/input/output requirements.

Hi,

I've just bought biwiring speakers, does anyone know how to bi-wire them on marantz? My sistem is only front speakers (Dynavoice DF-6) and some back ceiling speakers (Bang&Olufsen Celestial BOC86). I have no experience in Hi-Fi thus i have no idea how to connect fron speakers with bi-wires to my SR5011...

A waste of time as doing so provides no benefit.

I also bi-wire/bi-amp my front speakers, think it will not make them sound any better, but i will not harm them ither !
I like the idea of using one amp for Hight/Middle and one amp for the Woofers.
For the Woofer i use a 100% OFC cable, for H/M i use a Silver/copper cable.
So if you have 2 amps to spare, just do it.
Set the (9 channel) receiver to 7.x Bi-amp.
This way you can use 5.1 Bi-amp and 2 Height speakers.....

To be honest, i can not detect any sound differents, Bi-amp or not, but i have the cables and have (for this moment) 2 not used amps in my 7011, this is why i do it......

Finally fired up the SR-5011 yesterday and tried to play some songs.

I have the HSU MK5 sub that I just bought and unless I put the mode on DTS neural X? (by pressing on the 'music' button couple of times on the remote), the subwoofer would not activate. What am I doing wrong?

I don't know much about the 5011, but on another thread someone was having an issue I think with a 6011 and getting the subs to work and reran Audyssey to get the subs to work.

You might try that.

Klipsch KPS-400’s FR/FL with built in 15” 300 watt side firing subs, RC-7 Center, RS-3 Surrounds.
Integra DHC-60.5, 5- Marantz MA700 Mono Blocks, Pioneer DV-F727 301 Disk DVD CD Changer, Pioneer DVL-909 Laserdisc/DVD/CD Player, Sony PS3.

Before you run Audyssey again, simply go into Manual Setup and reset any speakers set to LARGE to SMALL/80Hz and also go to Manual Setup - Levels - Test Tones - Subwoofer and raise the volume up about +5db (unless it's at -12db than you'll need to lower the gain/volume on the sub to about 10 o'clock and run Audyssey again and then raise it +5db in Manual Setup).
