Denon S710W VS Denon S510BT

Hello,

I am looking for receivers for a setup. I do not have set speakers or subs to set them up for. It will be for a 3.1 system at first until I eventually move. I will however be buying either infinity speakers or JBL speakers from harmanaudio.com since I have a $600 gift card there that I have to use by June. I couldnt find a comparison between these 2 speakers and wanted thought. I don't need the 7.2 setup, but the wifi and some of the other features are nice.

1. Are both of these speakers recommended? From the reviews, it seems I cant go wrong with either one. But for $150 difference, is there a way I should lean?

2. Based off of the speaker limitation I have, would one be a better match for some JBL's or Infinity speakers (probably going to end up with some JBL's).

The speakers will probably end up being JBL studio 530, ES80, or Arena 170. I can get a sub later, as I am restricted to $600 having to be from harmanaudio.com

OR option 2...
If people highly recommend a Harman Kardon receiver, I could get one of those and buy different speakers. The harman receivers seem a little bland and limited with options.

I have another post in the receiver section with conversation about speakers, but I wanted to know opinions on the Denon or Harman receivers.

The s710 would be the receiver to get over the s510 because it adds networking, 7.2 capability for future expansion, better speaker terminals, wi-fi, and a few other nice features.

Harman Kardon doesn't make any receivers that can pass a 4K signal and are HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2 compliant. Someone posted on AVS that HK is going to discontinue making AVRs so I'd skip them.

JBL and Infinity are both good speaker brands. Just depends which models you buy.

I would suggest the S710 too. You don't need to spend $1000 to get a decent receiver unless you need pre-outs for external amps or want to do a 7.1.4 set-up . I would suggest putting your entire budget on JBL studio 530 and buy the rest later. Note that wether you get bookshelf or tower speakers you will want to get a sub. Better to spend $600 on good bookshelf speakers than $600 on mediocre towers.

The 510 BT can be had for less than $200 @ Fry's but it doesn't have Audyssey , just a basic Denon Eq setup.

THANKS GAJCA! For that price I will jump all over the 710 unless something else is recommended that better for around the same price.

It just breaks my heart seeing prices like that. That same receiver is $700 new in Canada[$500 at best when on sale].

Scored 710 @ Fry's $274

I just scored the 710 at Fry's for $274; this was a late day promo code today. They added 20 items on a late day promo code. It is a sealed box with a 30 return policy, not a refurbished one like in the link above.
