Is the 7 channel model discontinued? I see it's out of stock at Monoprice and they show the arrival of more stock is more than 1 year from now.

Good question, I am very curious about it since I am about to order one from a Canadian reseller...

I’m assuming it is just a arbitrary number and they don’t have a lead time from ATI in when the next shipment will be coming.

Well I have received my Monolith 7X today, damn that thing is HEAVY. I have a 500lbs deadlift and still found it hard to bring down in the basement and lift it into the AV rack!

After hooking it up and spending about 45 minutes fixing a ground loop buzz issue, I finally fired it up. I was really sceptical about if it would make a difference in sound since most people here argue that all amps sound the same.

In my setup, it is a big step up in sound quality, soundstage and dynamics from my Marantz SR7010. It's like if the sound was held back before and distorted when things went loud (above -10dB). Now I can see the full potential of my Sonus Faber speakers. The soundstage is more 3 dimensional with better separation between instruments. Sound is much more detailed across the board. It is begging to go louder and when you crank it, the sound remains very clean, detailed and effortless.

Very happy with my purchase and if you are on the fence, just do it. It is worth it! You just cannot compare a 95lbs amp with a 30lbs receiver.

Glad to hear the sound quality and power is as good as you report and as you said it should be, coming from ATI and tipping the scales at 95lbs. Can you share what your ground loop source was and your fix?

The ground loop was coming from my JVC projector not being plugged in the same outlet as my Monolith. I swap all my electronics from one outlet to the other and back and fort and finally realize it was the projector......... So I plugged it in the same power strip as my Monolith.

Oh ok, before with my last set of subs, i tried separate locations at the opposite ends of the room where i had to use separate ac outlets. Lots of ground loop hum in that configuration beyond the baseline hum that was there, now i have everything on a completely separate 2X 20a outlet which resolved that issue. It was challenging at that time figuring some things out as those subs were defective and had a hum no matter what.

Anyway,, it's nice when our expectations and hopes are met with an upgrade, glad the results were that much better.

Each channel has it's own power supply, so 2-5-7 channels should sound the same.

Is it normal to hear a slight buzz when you put your ear right next to the tweeters?

I tired everything, disconnecting everything and only having the Monolith plug straight into the wall and still do it.

I noticed the same and just got a Furman elite 20 pfi im installing this weekend... Ill keep you posted if this resolves the issue.

Was using a CHEAP power strip and have multiple components on different outlets. Last step to getting this setup right.

I thought with a power amp you should run it directly to the outlet and not use any power conditioners or surge protectors

I heard about that, it would be interesting to read the pros and cons from knowledgeable people on that Mather.

I think some surge/power conditioners limit current and that is the reasoning. On another note, pretty sure it says to plug it right into the wall in the manual. That’s how I have mine.

I think you’d do fine mixing. I had a d-sonic for a while paired with a different brand (nad) without any issues

Try proaudiola.com. Custom made, excellent quality and reasonable prices.

Here’s a link to their 7 channel snake...

https://www.proaudiola.com/category-s/889.htm

Pick your length and whatever ends you want. The “premium finish” is a little higher in price, but well worth it IMO.

The Emotiva uses a 2-prong power cable, so it will not be subject to ground loop issues like the Monolith.
