192khz - Can't switch surround mode (Extended to advanced game, etc.)

Quick question I'm curious about, and it may be an obvious one to most, but...

I have a Pioneer VSX-1124-k and when I output audio from my computer as 24bit 192khz I can't switch between listening modes such as (Extended Stereo, Advanced Game, and so on - 2 that I use a lot). When I try to it flashes "Not Available" on the receiver.

But when I switch between the modes at 96khz it switches/operates as expected.

Is this just due to the quality of the source that's being output? (raw PCM or something)

Apologize, I barely know what I'm talking about here... only what is happening. Never noticed this behavior before until now, so thought I'd ask. Thanks!

Most likely the 1124's DSP audio processor doesn't have enough resources to handle 192kHz streams....

Just my $0.02..

Yeah, most of the extended surround modes only work on audio 48khz and below. Only in recent times has there been the ability to add that processing to all signals, and only on high end units.
