Will this receiver upscale the composite a/v video inputs to HDMI or do you have to use the composite output to the TV? Son wants to hook up an old GameCube.

Check the video conversion table in your owners manual.

Does anyone know if this receiver will get AirPlay 2? I just bought a second receiver for another room (the 7850) , and I’m hoping I don’t have to replace my perfectly good 5810 just to get that one key feature for me .

That only talks about the google assistant , it doesn’t mention airplay 2?

Yea, this is what I found confusing.. they're going to update them for google assistant but NOT for airplay 2 ? It seems odd, and it seems unlikely that the chips are too underpowered? Maybe it was easier technically to do the google assistant stuff on their older gear. I'm disappointed as these receivers arn't THAT old. If I get another Yamaha though, I guess it doesnt matter, I could use MusicCast to bridge the two anyways.. but that's an extra step to play whole-home audio vs one step with Airplay 2

Yamaha AVR: How to Adjust Zone B Speakers left/right balance??

Tried everything to no avail including calling Yamaha customer service tonight.

Zone B is pair of outdoor speakers & Zone A is in sunroom. I can adjust Left-right balance in A through the menu. But nothing I have tried works for Zone B speakers.

Is there a trick?? I have TSR-5810

Thanks!!!

Primary set-up 5.2.4; Yamaha A2050, Paired w/Parasound P5 & ATI 522NC 2 channel amp
Revel F206 fronts & Revel M16 rears; 2 Outlaw X12 Subs & 4 RSL C34e in-ceilings

Secondary 5.1: Denon S900W, Polk LSiM703/704C, Polk RC80i in-ceiling rears, RSL Speedwoofer 10s

Unlike mid/upper level models that feature a true Zone "2" (ie. same or independent source from the main zone) with both Tone Control (Treble/Bass) and Balance (L/R) settings, the lower models (eg. TSR-5810) only feature Zone "B" which simply mirrors what is being played in Zone A and also only feature volume control for Zone B.

Yamaha AVR: How to Adjust Zone B Speakers left/right balance??

Thx for reply JD, you are 1/2 correct;

We cannot play different sources but can adjust Zone B volume independent. When you adjust Zone B volume it doesn’t display on AVR screen, you adjust by ear according to the manual which we do;

now just looking just to adjust zone B speakers left-right balance; perhaps we can’t

Actually fully correct. As I said, there is independent "volume control" for Zone B but no independent "balance" setting.

Yanks

I've merged your thread into the owner's thread that JD linked. Going forward, please post all comments and questions about this model into this thread.

Thx JD; sorry didn’t notice you stated volume is independent as I did; also didn’t post here cause this thread is almost dead, last post was almost 6 months ago

Try the Web interface (I think the 5810 has that) ... or the Android or iOS AV Controller app.

Hi guys. I've got my RXV581 hooked up through HDMI to a Yamaha Blu-ray/SACD player. I am playing a multichannel SACD with DSD, but the display on my receiver only reads 'PCM'.. Am I doing something wrong?

No, if you can hear the music, it's fine.

What is the audio output setting on the Yamaha disc player? Generally the options are Bitstream, or PCM.

If you're trying to switch the information displayed on the front panel display, this is described in the manual.

So happy I found this thread. I have the Costco purchased TSR-5810. Somehow I lost the YPAO and was looking to find a replacement, part number but nothing matched, until I found out here that my model is the same as the RX-V581. Ordered “”Yamaha WN649600 Audio/Video Receiver Microphone Genuine Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) part for Yamaha”” this from Amazon so I can set up my speakers. Looking forward to calibrating my speakers.
1. I have 5.1 surround set up (AV company set it up for us)
2 front speakers in the ceiling
1 Center speaker
1 Subwoofer
2 Back speakers in the ceiling
I can barely hear the speakers in the ceiling and it was a mistake to have them put in there. Should’ve just used floor speakers but I liked the clean look.
- I want to connect two additional bookshelf type speakers to the front and wire them into the Front Left Presence and Front Right Presence / Surround, input on the Receiver. What type of speakers can you recommend for this ? Something that I can put in front, by the Center speaker, on a shelf. I don’t know what these speakers are called.

Receiver is connected to Wi-Fi. Every time I check for FW updates, it says it has one. So I update. Then it says completed. Received restarts. When I check again it says it has one, I update, successful. Check again, update again, it just goes around in circle, over and over again. Why is it doing that !?

Just download it and follow instructions for updating via USB flash drive.

For speaker recommendations, be sure to browse the Speaker section of the forum.

Why not try to up the gain on the two ceiling speakers? Just because YPAO has it set to something you can change it to something else manually. I think I run my subs a little hot compared to what YPAO has it. I have the 7810 but I used the regular YPAO not the multipoint one because I was too lazy so it should apply.

Anyone know if this receiver adds input lag when the Xbox One is connected to it and the receiver to the TV? If there's input lag, probably best to connect it directly to the TV and sacrifice Dolby Atmos.

Thanks

Yamaha TSR-5810 - A/B Zone No Longer Display

Got this receiver maybe 3 years ago, had two zones setup with B being an outdoor speaker set, A inside; almost solely used to play music via Bluetooth. Worked fine up until recently but now the A/B switch on the remote does not change zones, and the A/B zone indicator in the receiver's display no longer shows. The receiver otherwise works fine inside but now I cannot get anything to play on zone B outside. Its as if some setting got turned off but reading the manual I cannot sort out what that would be.

Anyone run into this and have a fix? Thanks in advance.
