Still nothing from L/C/R. When I try a test tone on the 4311, it works. On the 4400, nothing? Have not run Audyssey yet. Shouldn't matter, right?

Are you using the multi analog inputs? What source is selected on 4311CI?

4400 is red/white FL.FR,C red/white rca preouts.

Didn't see you offering any of your "expertise". New to Denon. Had three separate 2ch. amps running on the 4311 at 13.4(two zones) fine before the new 4400. Have read and understand both manuals. Instead of selling the 4311, I wanted to re purpose it as an amp. New to me. Knew I was missing something, somewhere. That what this site/hobby is about. It is not about stupid, childish posts such as yours. A quick search of your older previous post clearly shows that you do not know everything and have asked for help before. So take that spoon, get some fries with gravy and cheese curds or whatever you all put on em, a cold Molson and enjoy...Eh?

Nothing wrong with asking questions, but too many people don't read either the manuals or forums or the company website and just go asking away and expect everyone else to answer instead of finding answers.

Or a lot of questions are more about personal preferences.

I'm not meaning to disrespect you by any means, I know you want to do it right as well, but part of it is knowing to do it on your own.

Anyways, you have a good night eh!

Nope. Something is not right. It is hooked up correctly. I really haven't even heard the 4400 by itself yet. Going to try one of my other 2ch amps tomorrow instead of the 4311 after I hear it (4400) first. Thanks, I'll figure it out.

Might just go ahead and run Audyssey after connecting everything up and see if the test tones come through the externally powered speakers.

Thanks buddy. Thought of that. Just went ahead and pulled the 4311 out. Replaced it for the fronts with an Onkyo 2ch amp I had. First test run with the 4400 after getting test tones and running Audyssey is fantastic. Running now at 11.4 without much tweaking is amazing. Mind you the 4311 I have was from Amazon warehouse, used, third part seller, with a broken foot for $400. I had actually NEVER used any analog inputs on it in the almost year I have owned it. It is on the garage bench now, be interesting to see if any of the analog inputs work. Will test with something in a day or two.

While I am here just want to give a shout out and thanks to JDSmoothie for all his help and guidance. Not so much to folks who ridicule you for asking too many questions. Eh?

Bottom line is the X4400H is off to a GREAT start.

That's cool. I had my older Denon 2805 with full multi channel analog inputs but never tried to use it to expand my 4300H setup. Something may be up with that receiver's analog ins but who knows. I finally added a dedicated 5 channel power amp and sent the 2805 to Goodwill. Glad you got things going though.

Kind of a random question but how many watts per channel is the X4400H when using it to run 9 speakers? I know some companies aren't really accurate on thier website. Denon says this one is 125 watts per channel. is that really what it is when running 9 channels?

I got an old Denon AVR-4306. Can I use it as an external amp for my four patio speakers and connect it to my AVR-3400H's Zone2 and be able to play Heos? If so, how would I connect the wires from the 4306 to the 3400H?

There is a lot of very helpful information I provide in the first 7 posts of this thread. Please refer to post 7 of this thread for your ZONE2 question.

Likely close to about 40-50W/CH

Yes. Connect RCA wires from the X3400H Zone 2 pre-outs to any analog audio input on the 4306. Connect one set of patio speakers to the 4306 Front L/R speaker posts and connect the other set to the 4306 Surround Back (assigned as Zone 2). Select the analog audio input used for both the main zone and Zone 2.
