This grahic of German? European? General? 2017|2018 model year Yamaha receivers contains NO model RX-A770. But a model so numbered is [only] mentioned on the B&H website and appears in just one image on the ABC Warehouse website...

I have been eyeing the RXV7810 for quite some time and comparing it to the 683 now. I dont really care about the extra power of the 781, but cant find anything overly different between these two with Yamaha's compare page.

I will need a new tv in the next year so HDR is important to me, but doesnt the 781 have HDR? Is it different?

Is the HDMI on the 683 newer or better than the 781? I see they both have music cast which would be nice in the future possibly, but does the 683 do something the 781 cant? I dont care about tidal since i am an android user and subscribe to google play music. Zone 2 functionality is important to me as is the app.

Does the 781 have a zone 2 video output also? if so that would be great for me. My kids playroom is on the other side from where i would put this so being able to put a gaming system on the main system and using zone 2 would be great.

Anything that the 683 has that the 781 doesnt?

You'd have to get an A870 if you want something akin (read: identical features + fancy chassis + better warranty) to what the V783 would've been.

Better HDR specs on the x83. DV is supposed to come to the x81's, but they're guaranteed to be on the x83. If you're looking to future proof, get the Vx83, Ax70 or TSR-x830 models.

7xx vs. 6xx gets you better YPAO and amp pre-outs.

770's seem to be around.

The biggest change is the furthering of the gap between the RX-V and AVENTAGE lines, by eliminating the V7xx. So instead of three overlapping models, you now only have two overlapping models.
V5xx / A6xx
V6xx / A7xx

I just got the 683, hooked it up and am running the update, for hours....it's at S1-11 and varying %. Is it normal to take this long, is there something else I can do? It's wired Internet so no slowdown.

Feel free to join us in the Yamaha RX-v*83 owners' thread: https://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-rec...rs-thread.html

In general, Yamaha firmware updates can take several minutes. Just leave it alone for a while. Go outside, make a sandwich, spend time with loved ones. It'll finish and ask you to turn the AVR off when it's done.

"Exceedingly odd," said the butler.
