From what I can tell it doesn't have traditional AES/EBU XLR style inputs, I do see AES/EBU is available via one of the expansion slots however they are in RJ45 format so I'm not sure if those are intended for the same purpose as the more common XLR style inputs which you would normally only ever see 1 or 2 on a SSP. I mention it because I currently listen to my digital music from a AES/EBU cable. My player does also have USB and a single BNC style SPDIF out.
Don't know. Personally haven't seen much interest. At the moment, you'd have to use your BNC out or a USB to SPDIF adapter as I'm sure you know.

Yep, but ideally I would like to avoid having to resort to using adapters but as you say those can at least be used to get my signal into the unit.

I personally wouldn’t be concerned about a BNC to RCA adapter diminishing SQ.

Is there a tool that I can use to control channels via HDMI to measure the frequency response?

REW on a laptop or pc is an option. There's a thread about it on AVS somewhere

At the bottom of the first post of the REW thread it says that:

".....the newest version of REW now includes support for ASIO (HDMI Support to measure all 8 channels) and USB Mics for an extremely simplified setup...."

There is a upgraded iPad app for the Storm . Have your IP address handy to re-enter if you do the upgrade as you must re-enter it. The remote app is laid out completely different !

It’s quicker. Did some timings to confirm. My results are influenced by my JVC RS500 which is notably slow — the display plays a part in switching speed as well. Will be installing a new RS3000 this weekend which by all accounts (including info from JVC) will drastically speed things up in our system and will check timings again.

Great - please let us know what you find. It seems a long wait until the Mk2s are released at ISE 2020 in Feb....

Since I'm not going to take out the new card, put the old one in and try it w/the JVC RS3000 installed, I can't directly compare. What I can say is that the new card/RS3000 combo switches quickly and without incident, no problems or undue delays switching from input to input, and/or switching from one resolution to another. I think most systems will find a speed increase with the new card, among other benefits to come.

I also have the board now and I have to congratulate StormAudio. The board runs perfectly, very fast switching and without error. Great.

Called into a dealer today who was about to order an SP4 when he was told by Bryston that they are not fitting the new Storm video board to the SP4. Found that very hard to believe to be honest as did he...he’s not now going ahead and I don’t blame him!

I wonder what the reasoning is ? Well maybe Storm is making it only for Storm labeled gear. The new HDMI board will eventually allow on screen display .

This is a head scratcher, it will fit and the software is there; wonder why.

Can’t imagine how all those who decided to pay the not insubstantial premium to acquire the SP4 are feeling right now...

At Storm there will be MK2 upgrade, Bryston won't get it either? But this is not good for Brysten customers.

It appears that Bryston is actually writing its own software, so won’t accept the new HDMI board nor the upcoming mkII board. Can’t fathom why they are going this route after investing in the platform.

In the user manual, this is how it is mentioned for SP4, I think it would be the same for the Storm as well -

1. Press EDIT button for about 3s.
2. The display will show a list of system information, including the IP address allocated via DHCP

Audio: Bryston SP4 | ATI 6005 + 528NC
Video: JVC RS2000 | Stewart Cima | Custom HTPC | Sony UBP-X800M2
Speakers: B&W CM10 S2, CM Center 2 S2, 4 x DS3 | 4 x SVS SB4000
Acoustic treatment: GSK Acoustics
Furniture: Middle Atlantic RSC rack |
Seatcraft recliners | Sound Anchors
