If the problem continues then next is the FireTV. In my opinion the issue is your TV, either buy the box that @bluemoon737 is suggesting or get a new TV if you want to use full potential of your SR8012. To save you some money return that HDMI 4K expensive cable that BestBuy told you to buy....smh. As long as the HDMI cable is high speed and goes up to 18Gbps of bandwidth it will work or it won't, there is no middle ground for HDMI. You can get the Amazon Basics High Speed HDMI cable for a better value and it will do the same job.
Yeah, the cable was returned. Cables weren't the problem and Best Buy doesn't have a HU9000 available for testing.
Unfortunately the 3500 unit is out of production. It was produced for only a short time.

I may have to try the Key Digital HDFIX22 or Atlona ETU Sync and see what happens.
Thanks,
Tony

Marantz sr8012 overhanging the depth of tv stand

The marantz sr8012 receiver is over 18.5 inches deep but most tv stands are less than that depth.

Is there a problem with having the sr8012 partly sticking out the back of a less deep tv stand or would this be a huge mistake? This is assuming I can modify and cut out the back of a 15.5 or 16 inch deep stand so that the receiver can protrude out of the stand shelf area and overhang the back. What about an 18 inch deep stand?

The problem is all the stands we prefer come in less than 18.5 in depths. Is it better to just by a larger deeper stand in this case that we like less?

What have others done with such large avrs?

Thanks

can the 4 feet sit securely on the stand? If so, I wouldn't worry about it hanging out the back a little.

Mine says that as well, and no way is it getting installed until we learn more about whether it can be turned off or not. It supposedly overrides your crossover settings and that doesn't sound like something I want.

I guess that's another situation when the Audyssey app comes handy.

The crossover will only change with Imax Enhanced disks.
What is the new firmware number?

Sure, but is the 'enhancement' optional? If not, I don't want it.

No, what I mean is, if I don't like it, will I have the option to disable the 'enhancement' in the receiver or disc menus, or will it be automatically turned on when a disc containing that metadata is present?

The "flagship" Denon X8500H received a second IMAX Enhanced update today which adds a "Manual" setting change for (High Pass filter, Low Pass filter, Subwoofer mode) so that was also likely included in this update to the SR8012 and upper level 2018 Denon/Marantz models as well. Simply purchase an IMAX Enhanced DTS:X disc and you can confirm for yourself.

Guess I could order a disc and give it a try, then. Does this new mode offer anything beyond the crossover settings? The marketing materials were really spotty on actual details of what it is, besides Imax branding on top of HDR10+ and DTS:X with different crossover settings.

It allows the AVR to decode the IMAX Enhanced DTS:X file, otherwise, if the IMAX setting is set to OFF, then just the regular DTS:X decoder is used.

JD...Up-to-date change log entries and associated information or lack thereof is historically a reoccurring question/concern/complaint and not just isolated to D+M. It would seem to be a "no brainer" to update change logs prior to pushing the FW updates. Any insight as to why manufacturers are not diligent in this regard? If not, can/would you pass this on to the various reps on the consumer's behalf? Thanks!

Just learned from an SR8012 owner that the update also now includes access to the rest of the Web Control menus (ie. GENERAL and NETWORKING).

Wayfair had a HUGE selection of stands, but if you really like a stand, buy a 1/2" or 3/4" piece of plywood, paint it black, and cut it so its longer then the shelf? The stand will not be touching the wall anyway I suppose so you will have a gap anyway from the wall to the stand.

As is the case when playing DTS:X audio as well, your Blu Ray player must be set to "bitstream." If the AVR panel is reading "Multi Ch In", that means the Blu Ray player is decoding the audio to PCM.

I just received my SR8012 a couple of days ago. I build up static electricity as I walked towards the unit. As soon as I touched it, the receiver shut down for a couple of seconds and started back up. Does anyone know if this is some sort of protection capability?

If you must continue to manually touch the unit, consider looking into an ESD solution.
