I'd like to add to the list Rythmik Audio. I own a G25HP and an F12SE from them. Extremely happy with both, especially the G25HP. It's an amazing sub.

HSU and SVS are both top quality products with a long history of customer service.
I've owned Dr Hsu's subwoofers and speakers for close to 30 years now and can only give him the highest of recommendation.
The Monoprice products have a bit less going for them in some of the history reports.

The Monolith subwoofers themselves are very good, and if you watch for sales, are incredible values. The problem is if you have issues, you have to ship the whole massive subwoofer back, instead of them just shipping you an amp or driver for self install like most other companies do.

(This is getting off-topic, but as an AV8805 and Rythmik owner I feel allowed to chime in)
The quote above is one of the reasons why I also recommend Rythmik Audio.
A storm took out one amp and they quickly shipped me a replacement amp (get surge protection guys, whole house on the panel by an electrician is surprisingly cheap).
As I remember, moving the 15” driver felt like giving birth to a calf, but still much easier than shipping the mother back to the farm :-)

I was on the Trinnov owners thread the other day and saw that they are being promised the DTSX Pro update, are we getting it as well? I know there was talk about month ago but nothing ever surfaced from it.

I don't believe the 8805 can get Pro certified due to not have enough channels available. I could be wrong though.

BTW, went to the cinema yesterday to view Godzilla. The movie majorly sucked but the surround sound was incredible. Can't wait for a BluRay to be available to hear it on my system.

I was thinking that at first to however, DTSX is 11 channels and this would give us the ability for 13 channels. The way it was explained and I gathered but could be wrong was that DTSX Pro enables more than 11 (which DTS X is and ATMOS is not)and does not need to be the 24 I think it is capable of.

What do you mean by "Pro certified"? Are you referring to something specific or are you just assuming?

DTS:X Pro is just an expansion of DTS:X which allows for >11 outputs. I don't know why, in theory, the Marantz AV8805 or Denon X8500H couldn't get it.

What I meant by "Pro Certified" is if any particular component supplies the parameters needed to be licensed by DTS to put the software and PRO decal in their component.
Like I already said, I don't know for sure what is required.

JD is correct, the Tier 2 guy is wrong. I have studied the service manual for the 8805 extensively. The XLRs go through the ADCs, just like all of the analog inputs except the 7.1 analogs. Use direct/pure direct on these, and you're good to go for all-analog.

However, it all depends on if you Outlaw amp matched with your speakers are transparent enough to really appreciate the difference. Just take a look at the internals of the 7705 vs. 8805 and you will see how much more discrete circuitry the 8805 has (especial HDAMs).

Form my experience, comparing with the Denon, the Marantz will sound warmer and more musical. It's up to you which sound signature you like. If you plan on keeping your Outlaw. amp, then my vote would be getting the Marantz 8805 vs. Denon 8500.

Other than the discrete HDAM circuitry for the two additional channels, where is the extra circuitry? Are the circuits for the HDAM's in the AV8805 different from those in the AV7705?

Just wondering if anyone has set up wireless headphones or earbuds with their AV8805? And what their experience or recommendations are? Would you need a separate Bluetooth transmitter connected to the headphone jack or could you use the unit's Bluetooth capability? Or best not to attempt at all?

I'm looking at possibly getting some wireless earbuds (ones that permit outside noise to come in for siutational awareness) for playing music from my smartphone when I go out walking. Just wondering if they might possibly also be an alternative with the AV8805 for late night movies and music (especially when the WIF is sleeping and is easily woken up when things get too loud or hates my choice of music. )

Granted, you can only do Stereo or Virtual mode with headphones, but, again, for not waking up the wife, that's perfectly acceptable.

Wireless headphones would be connected to either the Zone 2 or Zone 3 pre-outs selecting the "ALL ZONE STEREO" surround mode otherwise a Bluetooth transmitter would be required for Bluetooth headphones as there is no "transmit" capability.

I am not an expert, but there are a good deal of technical/architectural differences, volume control circuitry, component separation, etc. As far as I understand it, the 8805 has a separate HDAM board for each channel (you can see them up front in the internal pics). The 8805 also has far better build quality with a copper plated chassis and better designed internal layout.

Yes however if you are getting your unit calibrated it is mine under standing you are not going to use the custom curves from the Blu Ray and The projector, you use one or the other, so technically you do not need that good of a player if there are no other features you are using.....

I'm a Marantz SR7008 owner and am looking to get an AV8805. I'm wondering if any of the owners of the AV8805 have tried to use both the balanced and unbalanced outs for a combination of output possibilities? In particular I'm looking at running my mains in balanced and subs for front running off the single ended unbalanced outputs (both XLR and RCA using the front left and right outputs?

Thanks

Thomas

I have XLR balanced to my amp for five channels and RCA unbalanced to my subs. Works just fine.

Just picked up an 8805 yesterday, next step is selling my hsu subwoofer for a pair of g25hps. I was planning on buying the anthem for arc, but couldn’t pass up the deal I got on the 8805. Hoping I love this thing! In the process of moving so wont be setup for a bit, it is going to be real hard seeing the marantz box every time I grab something out of the closet
