The 830 did it for about a week or so. Annoying as heck. But after then it only did it at expected times, like changing inputs or something. I'd switch it out anyway, if u can. But who knows, maybe the relays settle down after a bit of use? But never had any other receiver do that
Me either,
It’s been doing it for the month if had it,
There is a screen shot of their response in my post

Well my new onkyo 830 started with the clicking today. So I tried the same thing that worked last time. Switched the apple TV to dd 5.1, and the clicking stopped. Switched back to lpcm and clicking was gone. Watched a bit of a movie then when I went to the Netflix menu, Everytime a trailer would start the clicking started again. I beginning to think these Onkyo/pioneer receivers are really buggy with certain set ups. Hopefully the clicking stops in a week or so like the other one.

I don’t have an Apple TV, but I have fire tv, Xbox one x, switch, and a PS4 pro hooked to it,
I run everything with highest audio settings, and have the receiver auto upmix to 7.1.4 atmos,
I must admit tho... I’ve only heard the click once today.

This clicking...mine does it as well but I always thought it was normal. I have it set to pure direct and the clicking always happens between commercials or whenever I change the channel but I figured it was because of audio formats changing ie, stereo to 5.1, etc. Is my experience the same as what’s being discussed here?

Yep. Just did a factory reset on mine and no clicking. See if it sticks

Hold the cable button on the receiver then hold power button for a second at the same time, then it should say "clear"

Appletv4K and Atmos

Hi
Yust bought the VSX-LX303 and main reason for use: Appletv4K and Netflix/atmos. Big downer to discover the receiver went silent when playing Atmos movie's! The preview plays sound but when I start the film there is no sound at all. All firmware updated/resets on both atv and pioneer. Have great atmossound from bluerayplayer.
Now I have 40 days left on a money back guaranty deal if not satisfy. Yust ordered the Roku Ultra to see if I get Atmos from it watching Netflix...

Are there others in here having atmos from Netflix on Roku or other devices on this AVR and the LX503?

Is it easy for Pioneer fixing this issue with a firmware update or is the problem in the hardware of the AVR?

Thanks upfront for any answers!

Have had an LX503 for about a month and have been generally happy. Just added a Sony UBP-X800m2 and a 65C9 OLED, and I'm seeing an hand-shake problem I think I have isolated to the LX503. When I use the sony to play most, but not all, video files (.mp4, .vob, .m2ts) through the LX503, I get normal audio and no picture (OLED say no source detected). I have a few examples of each file type that play no problem. If I plug the player directly into the TV, I get picture and sound (via ARC) everytime. When a problematic video file starts, the LX503 clicks and the speaker indicators flash on and off a few times before starting only the audio. It's also possible that the LX503 is putting out a picture that the LG doesn't like.

Any suggested settings to help with this? At one point the LX503 said ARC from the OLED was unavailable, but using Netflix on the OLED somehow forced ARC to work. I suspect there is some communication issue between the LX503 and the OLED.

have you tried updating the firmware? there was a note about allowing a selection between HDMI Standard and HDMI Enhanced in one of the recent updates that might resolve your problems

Hi - My LX303 has a network-connection and says the latest firmware is installed.. I noticed Apple requested the Belkin HDMI ultra high speed with 48gbps bandwith. Or at least 18 gbps bandwith I noticed somewhere else.I ask the salesman for high speed cables and he told me these where good enough.. Now I found out they are Hama's 10 gbps.. maybee that can be the cause of the problem? Like maybee the appletv4K give priority to the picture and uses what left of the bandwith for the sound?.. I ordered 3 Belkin - one for the 4K blueray and one for the Appletv and then from receiver to tv.

I haven't done a factory reset after the last firmware-update one week ago. Maybee that can solve it?

Also yust got me the Roku Ultra but the europian power supply hasn't arrive yet so can't test it out yet.

This is what I was getting at with the latest firmware update:
https://jp.pioneer-audiovisual.com/m...supple_933.pdf

If you scroll to page 64 (for English), you can see which types of HDMI connections require "STANDARD" or "ENHANCED" mode for 4k signal, and how to change it. I believe the Apple TV requires ENHANCED to allow HDR full color.

You may still need the 18gbps cables for everything to work properly, but you could swap one out and try this in the meanwhile

Thanks for the tip/link! Wasn't aware of that posebillety. I have a great 4k picture from atv but there might be a possibility for the silence of atmos to work! Will try this out in the morning(wife is sleeping) and report back!

This is how you activate Dolby Vision,

You would need to set the receiver output in the INPUT/OUTPUT ASSIGN > TV OUT/OSD and set the HDMI OUT to MAIN + SUB and then the DOLBY VISION section will activate.

Hi Hokies83 My Samsung Q9 doesn't support Dolby Vision. Haven't read anywhere about issues with Fire tv / Xbox one x and PS4. Do you have the 503 or the 303?

Thanks Renny. I did a factory reset on the C9 OLED and it seems to have fixed the issue. I think it was an eARC hand-shake problem between the TV and the LX503. I have not upgraded the firmware yet, but it's possible that could take care of it as well, or a related issue: When eARC is engaged, the TV forces the LX503 into having "TV" as the input. This is not an assigned HDMI input (since it's ARC), and hitting the TV button on the remote does not force the connection. In the event there is no audio for programming coming from a TV app, the only way to get the ARC audio is to repeatedly start and stop the show in the app until the LX503 recognizes the audio.

I've checked the HDMI settings 'standard and enhanced mode' that came with the update and the LX303 was already set to enhanced.

Hoping for the Belkins will make a change with the atmos-silence..

Am curious about the new LX304 which hasn't arrived in stores yet. Will the atmos issue with appletv4K work in this one?
And what price will it come with? The new Imax enhanced feature sounds interresting.

@lodbrok and @Hokies83 did you see the technical measurements this guy amirm did on the lx303? Most of it was over my head but he basically said he would not recommend it for audiophiles or those looking for a good dac. I assume if he gets his hands on an lx304 he might find the same mediocre results?

I would like to see this guy test the lx503, rz830 and x4500

I read the whole thread, see a pic of the inside of the 303,
The 503 has much beefier heat sinks and a fan above them,
His gripe was the 303 going to hell when getting hot, the 503 should do better with the bigger heat sinks and fan.
