Does anyone agree on who makes the best ATMOS/DTX processor? Often, one product will rise to the top as the best.... Is there one?

Since the number of AVRs & AVPs that are available under any one brand is vastly less than the number of owners of each brand, the odds are very good that there will be many agreements. My 70yo brain doesn't do math like it used to so I'll leave it to you to do the statistics.

Yamaha A-S1000 Int. Amp - Polk LSiM705's - Denon DCD-1500 - Marantz TT42 - Emo XDA-2 DAC - (WWG1WGA)
Multi-Channel: Yamaha RX-A2070 - Polk LSiM706c Center - Emo ERD-1 Surrounds

I agree. It's the preamp everyone would get, if they could.

Impeccable room correction, upgradable as new technologies come out, etc.

You might want to state an MSRP price range and what you define (your terms) is the "best"?

Quite true but not necessarily relevant. Just because someone bought a particular model does not mean that he did not think another was better but, perhaps, that other one was either too expensive, unavailable to him or had a single feature that disqualified it for his particular use. But, seriously, my initial comment wasn't really serious.

Couldn't agree more - the Altitude 32 is truly a "killer app". With the combination of freely configurable (within 3D vendor specs) high channel count, world-class flexible room EQ, and upgradable to new technology and even hardware (e.g. the HDMI 2.0 board), Trinnov IMO sets the pace for the industry. With the Altitude 16 as the entry level processor at over $15K today, it's not exactly for everyone.

However, there actually IS one person on AVS I know that would not pick up the Altitude if they could. Meet this guy:
https://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-re...l#post56446840

Somehow he believes that all Trinnov owners do is watch their inputs, endlessly fiddle with settings, and stuff their rooms with speakers because they can. I don't think he quite gets it...

Audio Gear: Trinnov Altitude 32 (24 channel), NAD M27 amps (3)
Video: JVC RS600, Seymour 100" UF Screen, Lumagen Radiance Pro 4444 (coming soon)
Speakers: PSB Imagine T3 LCR, Imagine T Wides/Side Surround 1, T2 Side Surrounds, Imagine XB rears, Image B6 screens, PSB CS1000 ceilings (6), HSU ULS-15 Mk 2 subs (4) - 13.4.6

Another vote for the Trinnov -- I keep bouncing back and forth between saving for that and just jumping in with the Anthem unit. I was really close to pulling the trigger on the Anthem, but convinced myself that eventually I'll just want the Trinnov (or its JBL sibling) anyway, lol.

For the average AVSer, it's clearly Marantz and Anthem. You used to be able to throw Integra in there as well until they lost Audyssey.

The the Lyngdorf MP-50 is a contender.

Not as flexible as the Trinnov, but at least one reviewer said has equal or better SQ.

Below $5K, the Marantz 8805, above that, the Trinnov Altitude 16 or 32

For Dirac Live lovers (like me), below $6000, the Arcam AV860 with Dirac Live is a great alternative until the Emotiva RMC-1 is released, if ever. The NAD M17 V2 with Dirac Live is a nice alternative as well.

Besides the MP-50 thread in this forum, lots of Lyngdorf user experiences here https://www.avforums.com/threads/lyn...80956/page-188
