Yes, it's totally inconsistent to allow interpolating other floor level speaker locations but not the wides, which are arguably the most important ones after going beyond 7.1 (personally, I'd say beyond 5.1).

I cant believe no one has their hands on one of these things yet. You'd think the chatter would subside at some point. I mean, how many years has RMC-1 been in the making now?

By the time Emotiva gets their act together they're going to get hammered by the big boys who don't need years to develop new products.

HT: KEF Reference 1 - Anthem AVM60 & MCA525 - Martin Logan Focus - DefTech XTR-20BP - Dual SVS SB16 Ultra
Office 2CH: KEF LS50 - Crown - Bluesound
Stage: Allen & Heath Dlive s5000 - Westone AMPRO 30 - AKG mics - Crown Amps
WAF is currently at DEFCON ORANGE

I didn't see the email about the second batch being available yesterday until too late and missed them again. I'm looking forward to the reviews as everyone in these early groups starts to receive them.

Got my pre-order in early yesterday. Now it's time to get to buildin' some speakers, terminating wires and making about 20 XLR cables so that I'm ready by the RMC's arrival ~January 1!

They have played this game before...search the threads. They have a history of charging cards when the order is placed and then coming up with reasons for a delay. Most companies wouldn't even think of charging the customer until the order ships...Emotiva, not so much.

I know and I wish that wasn't the case - ****ty business practice for sure.

For me personally, not a big deal right now, as I'm still building speakers and getting my new theater room completed. I'll wait just wait until the RMC-1 ships to order the NX7 projector, screen and seating.

Makes you wonder if they need the funds to build the next batch of processors...

Good for you, Santa has been nice to you.
Who’s gonna start the official owners thread, one of you who preordered just should start it so these 2 speculation thread can wind down

I think that business tactic is actually illegal according to the FTC. Dell always contacts me if an order extends beyond the original shipping shipping date and if it goes on too long they automatically refund. Their communication says the FTC requires they do so.

LOL

and the problem with hardware is: if it ain't wired correctly, no FW update can fix it...

Since DIRAC isn't ready, then that means they spent the whole time just trying to get DTS:X/DD:Atmos and 4K working.

I should really put the word "working" in air quotations. hehe!

Now imagine a not-working DIRAC FW added to a not-working 4K/DTS:X/DD:Atmos FW. This $5000 GoFunded brick... could get interesting. I await the reviews / horror stories with popcorn in hand!!!

I will wait until the verdict is out on this prepro. Emotiva has a lot to prove

I've been a Emotiva consumer for about 8 years. I don't recall this happening prior to this release of the RMC-1, with any of their processors or amps. Can you provide a few sources for your statement besides this RMC-1 release since Emotiva is said to have a history of doing this? I've searched and was unable to find anything. I'd like to read up on them. Thanks

1)Please don't ever take my comments about Emotiva to reflect on the AVS members. I want nothing but the best for AVS users and I hope you guys love your new products.

2)Just of the top of my head, it was just discussed in the RMC-1 speculation thread just this week. That's just off the top of my head. I have seen it mentioned before in other threads.

@frolich , the reason I asked for your source is because I've seen a few posts about Emotiva that I believe are not accurate. The post about a history of conducting business a certain way I felt was misleading unless you can help me find the sources you mentioned that can be found searching the internet. I tried, and came up empty handed.

Your statement is 100% true if speaking only about the RMC rollout. Emotiva is currently taking orders and preorders for the RMC-1 and charging credit cards for units that have not shipped or will not ship until late December. That doesn't scream a history of doing business if it only started in the past week and the company has been in business 2005.

I have purchased a number of Emotiva products over the years (I currently own three amplifiers, an XMC-1, the trigger repeater, and a handful of interconnects; my first purchase was in 2007 as if that really even matters). My card has been charged several times before the product was shipped, but only once was it charged and not shipped within 30 days (for the v3 XMC-1 board and I was contacted). I have friends with similar stories, though the gap between charge and ship is generally only days. I do not post my banking transactions online so a search won't do you much good, and of course I could simply be lying for the fun of it. Your call.

I do believe charging full price is wrong but those who have ordered are willing to pay (obviously). I have seen down payments required (or at least requested) to hold a product, say 10% or 20% down, but not a full charge.

A couple years ago, when I ordered an XPA3 amplifier, and it did take longer than predicted(it was supposed to be 10 days, I don't remember how long it actually took, maybe a week longer), they did ask if I wanted to cancel the order.

That is par for the course with Emo processors. The difference this time is they take your money before they even have stock of their probably incomplete unit

Having followed in detail the sad saga of Emo's other processors, my advice to anyone contemplating the RMC-1 would be wait a year and let the early adopters (unofficial beta testers) get all the bugs ironed out. Remember this is a unit from a company whose chief tech design officer didn't understand how bass management worked and banned the guy (@markus767) who tried to help them sort it from their forums. Be very careful...

To be fair markus767 got himself banned from AVS as well a few months ago so I wouldn't say he got banned due to technical reasons but severe lack of personal skills.

Marcus knew his stuff, but it was a one way conversation and that’s putting it nicely. Keith has a few good points, I suspect it going to be an interesting “learning curve” for new owners. Hopefully by not implementing the main reason for buying the RMC-1 (Dirac), it won’t be too interesting for those brave enough to jump first.

I have no idea why he has been banned from AVS, but I do know why he was banned from the Emotiva 'Lounge' and it was because he was very insistent, correctly, that Lonnie did not apparently understand the concept of bass management and where it should occur in the chain. As I recall, Markus was patient and not impolite but he refused to let it go. It was a simple fact that with the unit in question, the BM was taking place in the wrong place on the chain and was thus not being implemented properly. IDK if this was ever fixed as it may have been a hardware issue incapable of being resolved by FW (it's long enough ago for me to have forgotten the small details).

Regardless, Emo history with processors is a bad one, so those considering the RMC-1 should be cautious and at least go into it with their eyes open about potential issues down the line. To me at least, releasing an expensive unit which is missing one of its most important parts (Dirac Live) is insanity. And if my card had been charged for a unit they cannot deliver, without my being aware that this would be the case prior to ordering) I would be seeking to have the payment refunded.

That has been my experience too. In the past and currently I have owned 4 Emo amplifiers (excellent units) and 5 loudspeakers so I am not anti-Emotiva. But their record with processors is not the best, so caution is advisable IMO.

Seems Emo are quite upfront that they will charge your card immediately on order, so nobody can really complain about that. Here is there FAQ answer from their website.

When will my credit card be processed?

To provide the fastest possible service, your credit card will be processed immediately when your order is placed. On the rare occasion when a product cannot be shipped immediately, the next shipping date will be displayed at the top of the product page. If you just can’t wait to place an order for a product that isn’t available from our website at the moment, please contact our sales department directly.

Currently their site simply lists the RMC-1 as 'coming soon' and there is no 'buy now' button.
