DENON X4400H or X4500H

it seems like there are more deals to be made on the X4400H over the X4500H would it be worth the extra money to buy the 4500 or just save some $ and get the 4400?

Now's the time of year to save some money on the previous year model during closeout. I don't see anything earth shattering to justify the 2018 model over a closeout 2017. I bought my current 2016 X4300H the same way last year.

Chane A5 towers,Chane A2.4 center,RBH bipole side surrounds, Rythmik LV12R x2,Denon X4300H, Outlaw 5000,Front B speakers: Wharfedale Diamond 10.1 books. https://www.avsforum.com/forum/90-rec...d-part-ii.html

Very minor changes between 4500 and 4400. Check their comparison here:

As often reported, this site provides inaccurate specs to include the fact that the X4400H DOES feature both DTS Virtual:X and Bass Sync.

A little late to this but the X4500H has a few worthy future-proof features such as eARC and IMAX Enhanced, if you don't care about these then the X4400H is just as good. In the end I'll leave this up to you.

My current mancave room setup:
Vizio V436-G1 4K HDR TV | LG UBK90 4K Blu-ray player | Denon AVR-S740H AV Receiver (running 5.1.2 Dolby Atmos and DTS:X) | Xbox One X | Roku Ultra (2018 model)

The X3400H and X4400H both have already been firmware updated to support eARC as well.

I had both the 4400h for a month and then the 4500h. For whatever reason I didn’t like the 4400h at all. I couldn’t get any decent bass out of the receiver even when set to double bass and large front speakers crossed over to full range. I returned the 4400h and settled on an only RZ830. While the SQ wasn’t quite as good as the 4400h, at least that receiver put out decent bass.

Then I saw the 4500h on sale for $850 at my local Fry’s and gave it another try. While it looks identical and has the same features as the 4400h, for whatever reason, the 4500h sounded better and didn’t have the same issue of weak bass I was getting with the 4400h.

Given that you can find the 4500h for $850 if you check and wait for the right deal, I would definitely get that over the 4400h.

Awesome, I thought it was only the 2018 models that were getting eARC. Very cool to see even certain 2017 models get one too.

When does the new model 4600 come out? I am thinking of getting the 4400, because of the great prices right now. I would go with the 4500, but don't see a lot of difference except maybe the IMAX enhanced feature and you would have to have a TV or projector to take advantage of it right? What ratio screen would you need for the IMAX enhanced feature, 2:1 or 1.91:1? IF I get the 4400, I hope to upgrade to a 4K or Eshift projector at some point. I would like to get the Dolby Atmos set set up first to enjoy that.

Klipsch KPS-400’s FR/FL with built in 15” 300 watt side firing subs, RC-7 Center, RS-3 Surrounds.
Integra DHC-60.5, 5- Marantz MA700 Mono Blocks, Pioneer DV-F727 301 Disk DVD CD Changer, Pioneer DVL-909 Laserdisc/DVD/CD Player, Sony PS3.

In 2020. As noted in the new 2019 Denon AVR Owner's thread, the X4500H and X6500H are not going to be replaced in 2019 but instead are going to continue thru 2019.
