This Home Theater with JBL Synthesis Sound is a World-Class Experience

What’s it take to build a better home theater? It’s a fact that today’s home entertainment options can beat movie theaters in sound and picture quality. Thoughtful design plus superior gear are the ingredients that combine to make movie night special. Check out this article about the demo room at World Wide Stereo in Ardmore, PA.

Great article and I sure would love to experience something like that someday, but one question - you reference Unbreakable and hearing it in Atmos, but I'm pretty sure it's an LPCM 5.1 track on the Blu-ray. I'm hopeful it will get a 4K / Atmos remaster with the upcoming Glass movie coming in January, though

Preamp/Amps: Anthem AVM60, Emotiva XPA-2, XPA-5, A-300
Speakers: (7.1.2): Klipsch Reference Premiere / Power Sound Audio S3000i sub
Video: LG OLED65B7A, Oppo UDP-203, Roku Premiere+, Nvidia Shield TV
Room: GIK Acoustics treatments

I meant Unbroken... sorry, I edited that. Unbreakable is great, but obviously not Atmos. Unbroken... that's reference Atmos. Sorry for the confusion.

It does not hurt that the room is a good one to begin with, of course. I've seen that demo clip many times including at this past CEDIA.

Truth is you just can't get a show floor system to do this, from the construction to the noise floor to the acoustic treatments to how much time there is to calibrate, there's no comparison ultimately.

This felt more like a paid marketing ad... ^^;; but I know that just means that it was that good and you were super excited as it translates into the article. I would have liked more depth in terms of build photos and so forth but thats just mean loving the build up more than the finished product...

Sure, I wish I had known about the project while the build was occurring, I would have videotaped some of that.

That's an extreme oversimplification of the notion that most well-designed solid state amps working within specification sound indistinguishably similar these days.

What I will say is... The noise floor in that room is very low, the amps are neutral, the background is silent, and the output is powerful.

Front row appears a bit close to the screen.

Yeah the ML amps are probably 2 times the cost of the JBL in walls.

However WWS is a class act. I was there for an SVS event.

I hope there are still enough DuPonts in the area that love home theater. If so they should give Overture a run for thier money.

Cost-no-object world-class Home Theatre build?.. Quaint. My pressing problem is choosing right components for a theatre build in my private jet.

This is the second paid marketing advert, masquerading as an editorial article, that I've seen on AVS this week alone. Whats going on with AVS? They always used to be the place for relatively impartial reports.

I understand bills have to be paid, but underhanded 'articles' like this leave a very bad taste in the mouth.

That's simply not true. World Wide Stereo is local to me and asked me to check the theater out and be the "guest blogger" for this project. I'm familiar with the room as I've written about it before and I felt it was worth crafting this audio equipment update into a blog post/article. I wrote and produced the whole thing myself (even brought my drone and convinced them to let me fly it in the store)... although I used photos they provided from the build.

Aside from that, the room really does sound great and I hope I communicated that clearly.

Yes, I actually do have the complete itemized list of what's in the system. The thing is, it's in print, not a digital file. Here are some additional details:

The processor is the JBL Synthesis SDP-75 16-channel. The amps, you know about already.

There are three SCL-2 speakers up front, Four SCL-3 in-walls for surround, and four SCL-4 speakers up above. In all, it's a 7.1.4-channel system albeit with three JL Audio IWS-SYS1 subs contributing to the bottom end, as well as one JBL NS2S-EX sub.

Sources include the Kaleidescape Strato 4K along with a DV700 Disc Vault. There's a Sony UBP-X1000ES handling disc duties, a Roku Ultra and Apple TV 4K taking care of streaming, plus Comcast Xfinity service.

The Sony VPL-VW5000ES has a Lumagen RadiancePro 4446 hooked up to it.

Would you be able to scan it with OCR turned on and then you can select the text and do a copy and paste with a bit of formatting? or maybe they can provide with a text based break down, when you get a chance of course.

Mark,

Did they tear down their Keith Yates designed room? I have family in near by Malvern and checked out their previous Keith Yates room when I visited a few years ago. I ask because I see a window out towards the street in one of the pictures, which I remember the Keith Yates room also having with automated blinds to block the street. The previous room sounded awesome ( 4 years ago) and the staff was friendly and very courteous even though they knew I could not use their services due to living in Dallas.

Of all the high end stores i have visited around the country this was my favorite. Whenever I am in the area I try to drop by!
