Is anyone else but me getting a bit perturbed that NAD is not implementing Bass management software yet? So many other brands have this feature. Is it common for NAD to lag when applying new features? I have about one week left to return this unit.

AFAIK only the Storm Audio ISP MK1 and MK2 AV processors have it so far. Supposedly Bryston SP4 and Focal Astral 16 are shipping with it but I’ve not seen firmware updates for existing units. Who else has it?

We’re all eagerly awaiting this new Dirac feature. Patience is a virtue. Go ahead and return your C658 if you like, but I don’t see how that solves your problem.

They haven't answered any queries since the beginning of the Chinese pandemic. I think their facilities are closed due to the lockdown.

Any help from the board would be appreciated, I've submitted a ticket to NAD support and have yet to get a response.

I think I've experienced a similar issue, with my C658 not being able to to find my network drive, or the playback continuously pauses when music from my network. Rebooting the C658 works some of the time, but I find that the more effective an long term fix, is to reboot my network drive a WD MyCloud. I also didn't have these issues with the Node 2 either.

BluOS 3.8.12 is out. Doesn't look like anything exciting for us.

First mention of the M33. Great, it's finally coming! It still isn't on NAD's product pages though. It was due to launch in March and I have had mine ordered since February. Current estimate for arrival is in June.
Also, a while back I was offered to participate in the beta testing of Dirac Bass Management for C658 from Dirac's side, but I haven't received any news about that. So, the Bass Management is definitely coming for the C658, but it might still take a while.

Great news! It seems that NAD has finally resolved the low subwoofer levels in the last two firmware updates!

After the previous update, I noticed my bass had way more oomph, and after updating to the 3.8.13 yesterday, I decided to recalibrate the system. Already in the level calibration it was clear that the sub output level had increased as I could set the sub amp gain to -14 dB instead of -7 dB. Now I can achieve the same bass levels with the (very conservative) default Dirac target curve and -14 dB bass gain that I previously had to dig out with a special heavily boosted target curve and -7 dB bass gain setting. I guess the Dirac filter calculation has improved as well. One thing that still remains is the need to reverse the polarity of my SVS PC-4000 sub after the calibration. Otherwise there will be a huge and wide valley in the bass response.

I verified the calibration results with a APx 515B audio analyzer coupled with a B&K Nexus 2669 conditioning amplifier and a calibrated B&K 4190 free-field measurement microphone so even @EB1000 should be happy.

Have any of you owners that use Roon noticed you can now turn off the Roon MQA decoder, set the C658 to decoder and renderer and MQA is passed to the C658 just fine? The "MQA" notification even shows up on the C658 front display
