Upgrading; Help with shopping list

Posted here for speakers advice

Figured i would ask for AVRs.

I currently own a Yamaha RX-V581.

I have Polks S55 and S30 on delivery today. If i like them i will keep. If not, I will try the more expensive PSB X1T setup.

Will keep using my Monitor Audio MASS 10 as surround side and backs.

WIll keep using my GoldenEar Forcefield Sub

My PC AVR just blew up (i run a basic hometheather on my pc) I would probably move the 581 to the PC. Future house will have a basement setup too so i got options.

So far, i am looking at the Marantz SR5013 7.2 (1200$ CAD)
Marantz Audio SR5013 7.2 Channel AV Receiver Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07FMPVMRL/..._u0DqCb270XK8N

This model also seems in the same range
DENON AVR 3400H (960$ CAD)
Denon AVRX3400H 7.2 Channel Full 4K Ultra HD Network AV Receiver with HEOS, Black https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B072Z9ZGSZ/..._i7DqCb0GVKW78

Are any of those a major upgrade over my YAMAHA.

I dont mind spending when its worth it. Also there is no real emergency to replace the Yamaha.

Yes both of them are, better room correction software and more power.

For HT setup go with the x3400h. Better price, has all hdmi hdcp 2.2, 2.0a, preouts to add external amplification, zone 2 preouts, can play digital sources in zone 2 and of course has their best room correction software, xt32 with dual sub control.

For movies and music, if you do sacd, then the marantz sr5012/5013 has preins, however it has the lesser audyssey version called xt and is much more expensive.

If you love yamaha apps and reliability then look into last years rx-a870, rx-v781 (costco tsr-7810) or costco tsr-7850.

If you want to try Onkyo then the new 686 is nice.

If you want to expand to 5.1.4 then the onkyo rz630 is good or if you have a frys near you (not sure about Canada sorry) then the 11 channel vsx-lx503 is on sale now. https://www.frys.com/ads/page25

Dont use the Yamaha apps honestly. I mostly watch netflix's on a NVidia Shield 4k or listen to spotify. Nothing fancy.

Also have a Ps4 pro hooked up.

I usually set the AVR up with the app if necessary and then tweak distances etc...

Bestbuy currently has the Denon 3500h at the same price point of the 3400h (999$)

Yea the x3500h adds phono input, low latency mode for gaming and a new $20 app that lets you tweak the settings even more.

Good luck!
