Question Integra DTR 6.8 HDMI for audio only

Hi All
First time poster and hopefully I will learn from the forum and will also be able to contribute.

I am seeking help with how to optimise the setup of my Integra DTR-6.8 AV when connected to a CD/DVD player so I can play CDs without needing the TV on.

I have a Sony Bravia BlueRay DVD/CD player (BDP S1200). It is connected to my Integra AV via HDMI cable which then connects via HDMI out to my Pioneer PDP 508A TV (yes the TV is vintage!). I can watch DVD with sound through AV. However if I want to listen to a CD in the same player, I can only get sound when the TV is on or disconnect the HDMI out cable. I have tried to turn the TV off but when it does it also stops the CD. I have tried various config settings to disable the “power off” function across the devices but it does not work. Does anyone know how to configure the Integra so it does not need a live HDMI out signal for music only ?

Note: The Sony DVD player also has a coax out port but I have confirmed with Sony that I can only use HDMI or coax, not both.

Try using the analog inputs on your Integra.

Yamaha A-S1000 Int. Amp - Polk LSiM705's - Denon DCD-1500 - Marantz TT42 - Emo XDA-2 DAC - (WWG1WGA)
Multi-Channel: Yamaha RX-A2070 - Polk LSiM706c Center - Emo ERD-1 Surrounds

the bdp s1200 doesn't have analog out. Only HDMI and digital coax.

So try connecting the digital coax of the Sony to Coax 1 on your Integra and set the CD input to use coax 1. Then when you switch to CD the TV doesn't need to be on since it isn't using HDMI.

@afrogt is correct, this is how I have my bluray player connected to my dinosaur dtr-7.2. The analog and 3 optical inputs can easily be configured in the input menus.
