The X3600H cannot "drive" wireless speakers so you'll have to clarify your use case.
Thanks for the info! Going to purchase now.

Wireless via HEOS is what I was talking about. Am I misunderstanding how it works?

Thanks!

HEOS speakers are powered speakers in which you can pass audio from either the HEOS iOS/Android app or from 2CH sources connected to the X3600H.

Yes, sorry. I said "drive" but I meant "send audio to". Thanks!

An important distinction as some are misled to believe that HEOS speakers can be used with the models in this thread as main zone speakers which is not the case.

Received my x3600 today and I can't believe how Amazon shipped this. Shipped inside a giant box without any padding whatsoever. The Denon receiver box was just flopping around inside and I/m surprised it even works. I suspected Amazon would do something like this but was attracted to receiving this on a Sunday and plus $200 off retail. Luckily it's working perfectly.

This unit is definitely an upgrade over the x4000. Not only can I run all my sources through the receiver but it sounds better. More dynamic range and punch. Even my wife noticed it. IDK but I am really enjoying this!

Yeah, better retailers(AV Science etc..)always double box amps and AV receivers. The single factory box should still have had some shaped styrofoam inside of it so if it had nothing like that inside I would question Amazon as to why. Those are sealed by the manufacture before delivery to an authorized dealer and not to be opened other than by the end user meaning you.

The receiver was in the sealed Denon factory packaging with form fitting Styrofoam. That is what saved the day. However, Amazon stuck it inside a huge box with nothing else, no padding whatsoever. Crazy.

I will definitely remember this for future purchases of expensive electronics.

No, that's how my double boxed Denon came as well from another authorized dealer last year. Double boxing not double styrofoaming.

Does it make sense to pay extra money for X6500H or even X8500H for same 5.2.4 setup? As my living room can only place 5.2.4 speaker, according to channels to be powered, it seems that X4500H is the choice. However someone told me that X6500 and X8500 will sound much more better than X4500 even though those extra channels are not used. Is that true?

Or just because their AMP power are different? Or maybe their DAC and internal sound processing are different which make flagship and high-end models are better than mid-range models?

Would like to hear your experience on this matter. What do you think?

"So much better"? This is highly subjective! If you do not need the extra features and channels of X6500 or X8500 you are better served by the X4500H. So make a list of what you want from your AVR and choose accordingly.

As none of these models you're considering are 2019 models, your post is more appropriately placed in the 2018 Denon AVR Owner's thread.

I have been eyeballing the Denon 3600 but wanted to give some more punch to the front speakers if needed so that is why I was looking to add in an amp. The Monolith 2 or 3 channel was a nice price point and seemed to get good reviews but was open to other suggestions probably around that price maybe slightly more. Thanks.
First, you're talking about 9 channels so an external amp isn't required. The X3600H has 9 amps already.

Whether you need more power depends on how loud you listen, how big of a space you're trying to fill. But there's nothing stopping you from getting started with the 9 amps that come "free" in the box and then evaluating from there.

That said, if you do end up buying an amp, for home theater (vs 2ch music priority) I would strongly recommend at least a 3ch amp, not a 2ch. The center is MORE IMPORTANT than the L/R mains in home theater as it carries the majority of content, and the three LCR speakers work together to create the primary soundstage for a movie soundtrack. So the goal should be equal performance for the LCR speakers. This is a very common mistake people make, using big ass towers with a big ass amp and then a wimpy little center running off the AVR amps and then we get them posting on AVSforum threads asking "why am I having dialogue clarity problems?"

x3600h: Cable box has to be re-plugged into HDMI after TV has been turned off. Cycling cable box does not fix. This was not a problem with the Anthem AVR the Denon just replaced. Other inputs- OPPO and ROKU, operate normally. What's going on? Solution?

Did you try plugging the cable box into another HDMI input of the x3600H?

BTW I use Monoprice Certified Premium High Speed HDMI Cable, [email protected], HDR, 18Gbps for all my connections.

Try swapping out the HDMI cable as well.

I just got the x3600 and have the Roku and Oppo as well as the new Xfinity cable box. No issues but I bought all new HDMI cables just in case.

Starting out with brand new Premium certified hdmi cables can save you quite a bit of troubleshooting time if you run into any problems. If nothing else you will be using the current recommended standard.

Main 4K Setup: LG OLED55E6P, Oppo UDP-203, Denon AVR X-4500H,AudioSource 2 channel amp,(3) Hsu CCB-8 bookshelf speakers, (2) Hsu HB-1 speakers,(Monoprice Monolith 28" speaker stands, (4) Dayton Audio IO655B speakers, Hsu VTF-2 and VTF-3 subs, 10" Monolith THX sub, Roku Ultra, Amazon Fire TV4K, Monoprice premium certified HDMI cables

Apologies if this has been pointed out elsewhere in this thread, but I think you phrased this backwards to how you intended. I think what you mean to say is that with a Dolby input codec, the only upmixer that can be applied is DSU. It sounds like you're saying that DSU can only be applied to Dolby input codecs, and no others, which doesn't appear to be true.

Is it known if the recent addition of Dolby Atmos Height Virtualizer surround parameter setting to the 2019 models may also come to the 2018 models, I know it may seem redundant to be applied to the X8500H but most likely it will be applied to the X8500HA with the HDMI 2.1 board when it releases in 2020/2021.

Thanks I figured as much, I guess Bluetooth headphone transmission support is solely for the 2019 models as well, seeing how they use a newer Bluetooth 4.1 chipset module, it's disappointing that their 2018/2019 flagship is already outdated in that regard and will forgo Bluetooth headphones native support.

Most likely to be upgraded with the HDMI 2.1 board upgrade next year.

How to access ISF Day/Night custom settings: Press/hold the INFO button for 5 seconds with the Setup - Video – Picture Adjust – ON - ISF Day setting displayed (note that although these are the same settings as used with the “Custom” mode, there is a different “Gamma Coefficient” setting (not user adjustable) for each of the ISF Day/Night settings). The ISF Day settings should be followed by the ISF Night settings.

well, that's better than what i got--the x3600h box BY IT-SELF!!!! that's right, not even a double box... just the x3600h box by itself!!! i've tested and it seems to be working, but double-box with no cushion from amazon is better than what i got. be appreciative!

I just remembered that I chose the gift option because I thought Amazon would pull this. (Forgot about that) I think it says on the their site that the recipient would be able to identify the product so that means just the Denon box.

I just ran Audyssey on my x3600h, but the side surrounds are now way too loud (90 degrees from my seating position) vs the rest of the speakers. Anyone else run into this before? I followed the Audyssey guide in the thread pinned at the top of the forum.
