I don't see why not. You can put atmos in any room as long as there are places to mount the speakers.

Put 3 up front, 2 surrounds on your left and right walls. One set of heights on the ceiling up front, another set on the ceiling near the back.

Depends somewhat on the seating.

A lot of possible configurations: https://www.dolby.com/us/en/speaker-...des/index.html

a detailed PDF: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=...xrHQ-qLxeC3I1z

What receiver are you considering? A year or so ago I would have said that "budget" and 5.1.4 were incompatible, but more recently the Onkyo TX-RZ730 has become available for about $500.

If you can put some space between the seating area and the back wall (3ft +) then you should be fine with 5.1.4, but if your seating area is against the back wall the n you should stick with 5.1.2

Even cheaper as of late:
Amazon has the Pioneer LX303 (rebranded Onkyo NR787) for $400, which is the lowest price I've seen for a new 9.2 receiver.
They also have the Onkyo RZ830 for $500, which adds some more power, 11ch preouts, and eARC via firmware update.

Since you asked about budget 5.1.4 receivers, here are some options off the top of my head. Pricing from low to high as budget is subjective. Check the deals and great found deals threads for locations and pricing (AC4L, Amazon, onkyo direct, etc.)

rz630
nr787
rz730
lx503
rz830 - highly recommended on the forum right now and on sale!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
drx-3.2
x4400
sr6012
drx-4.2
x4500h
sr6013
a2070
sr7012

oops didn't see @rennyrb already posted a good list! I forgot the lx303 too.

Good luck!

unless you want upfiring modules on your front LR speakers then look into the recommendations by @bobknavs and @KidHorn
