Denon, Yamaha, Marantz, Onkyo, Integra and Pioneer are all good for movies and music. Each has its own cult following...I happen to love Integra gear.
Marantz has hdam circuits which I believe are supposed to create a cleaner electrical path thus better sound?? It's over my head but there you go! On the other hand, Yamaha has lots of nice dsp settings that are supposed to make it very musical.
Typically the room correction is only used for movie playback, with sub. Stereo playback (2 channel listening) typically bypasses room correction altogether and just gives it all to your LR speakers.
I have no idea if you are looking for a receiver or not, but I already posted this today so do a search if you are. Here are some good popular choices in receivers right now. Check the deals thread and the great found deals thread for prices and where to buy. This is just off the top of my head, there are a lot more that others may recommend that I overlooked.
