And so Emotiva paying the bulk and the consumer the rest. So who is paying for the tariffs? Is China or Americans? Tough question I know.

That depends on what you mean by "paying". When sales go down, China's exports decrease, and companies move their operations out of China they will be paying the price of refusing to move toward more balanced trade policies with the US. If Americans choose to still buy the products with the higher prices instead of alternative products made elsewhere that haven't raised their prices then the customer will be paying higher prices.

No, we are paying, don't try the circular BS. The prices go up, we pay.

It is not really a tough question. It should be pointed out that the tariff is on the wholesale price. (The price Emotive and other companies pay.) A 5% increase may represent their cost difference. Unless China lowers their price to cover part of the tariff we will be paying for it. That is a "fact." I doubt if it would be possible for any country to absorb a 25% tariff even on the wholesale prices. In may cases margins are already cut to the bone. There are various estimates that the tariff will cost the average family over $800 per year if it sticks. At this point we don't know if these estimates will hold but we do know that in nearly all cases the people in the country that impose tariffs end up paying for them not the exporting country.

Or we decide NOT to pay and buy something else. Therein lies China's problem.

They pay people $5 a day to build these products, then exercise capitalism on the global market. Win-win for China, especially because their people have no rights to challenge any of it.

Nobody can compete with that. Until now.

It's not circular reasoning. The word pay has multiple meanings. And the customer only has to pay if they choose to still buy it.

Yeah we'll all rise up and stop buying good produced in China. It's really unbelievable actually what is going on.

It worked brilliantly with Mexico. They caved.

China will, too. This is hurting them badly. Apple has other options, as does everyone. Korea, Taiwan, the Phillipines, etc. China's economy is entirely dependent on the US. Its own people can't afford to buy what they produce.

But you don't care if some 12-year-old is making 25 cents an hour as long as you get your iPhone for cheap. Sad.

This will get sorted out, just like Mexico. It's been a long time coming.

Of course price affects buying decisions. I'm talking about the delusional crap about being on an even playing field now or whatever BS you put in there.

How can it ever be even with a country that practices communism internally and capitalism on the global market?

But you can certainly negotiate a better trade deal than this raping we're taking on an annual basis from China.

Yes, lead guitar player for Metallica we get it.
You were on the verge of buying thousands of dollars of gear from Emotiva and now you have have to pay 5% more.
I've been writing purchasing software for a multi-national corporation since the Reagan Administration and you really have no clue.
There's a very real reason why my company doesn't & never will manufacture products in China.
In order to do so, you have to turn over your IP to them.
May not be big deal with most low level consumer goods but when dealing with finished products, they reap considerable knowledge at the company's expense.
All for the priviledge of near slave\compliant labor.
Trust me, China & the manufacturers don't GAF about you.

Take China's side if you like and be bitter if it makes you feel better.
If you had been a wise buyer, you would've seen this coming from a mile away after China reneged on a signed trade deal.

Maybe you could consider gear made & sourced in North America or Europe or don't you care about employing people making a living wage in safe conditions
as much as you care about saving 5% for yourself.

Can’t say i’m surprised that they had to raise prices. It’s bound to happen across the board by any company that makes/assembles in china.

Kudos to Emotiva for being upfront about it.
