AV processors under $1k?

I'm browsing and searching but not finding good information. Also hoping this is the correct spot to ask.

I have a Marantz SR6011 and Outlaw 5000 amp. My setup is only 5.1 and probably always will be so I am not utilizing the Marantz amps. Looking for a better processor with PEQ to use REW etc and multiple subwoofers. Currently looking at the Outlaw 976 and wondering if there are others for this price range to consider?

If you are only interested in 5.1 why not buy an older used high end pre/pro from audiogon ?

Would prefer new for warranty and some modern features like Bluetooth. But yes with no Atmos etc requirements the board is open for suggestions. I'll look at the classifieds too.

If you increase your budget up to $1500, you can get a used with warranty Gen 2 Emotiva XMC-1 with Dirac Live, PEQ to use with REW and 4K HDMI board. I sold mine for $1600 last week and there is another for sale at eBay from a very trusted AVS Forum member and the auction ends tomorrow.

Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll research it. I had looked at Emotiva site and saw the MC-700.

I wouldn't even look at the 700...I heard that they've had a ton of problems with it and its 4k pass-through.
I'd definitely look at the 200 tho. It is a good unit and at a near through away price. I have two of these running all the time on different setups for over 4 years now without a hiccup.
Good luck on your search

I did read that Emotivas processors were better quality in past. My only requirements, aside from wanting it to be an improvement in audio quality, is that video incurs no lag for Xbox gaming and that it has Bluetooth connectivity. Otherwise I'll likely be using REW and miniDSP to control 3 Marty sub variants.
It looks like if I increase my budget to $1500, beside the XMC-1, the Yamaha CX-A5100 is also in that used price range. I can read specs of the power supply's etc in these units all day and not know anything about them but hoping a separate costing more than my SR6011 as an AVR would be an upgrade.

Yeah the 200 will do what you want up to 1080p and it does have REW for all 7.1 channels plus Emo calibration. All for under $300.

But yes if you can swing the extra money the XMC-1 would be the best option... Emotivas preamps have really good sound..

Up your price a little and get a used marantz av7705 or a Marantz av8802. I pass on anything emotiva. After reading about the RMC-1 and the issues with hdmi 2.0a/b upgrade for the Xmc-1, the company left a bad taste in my mouth. I have had good luck with Marantz processors in the and currently.

AV7704 vs Outlaw 976

I have found a used AV7704 (the 7705 offers no new features I need) in my desired price range. I can’t find any good comparisons of the Outlaw to Marantz in quality of the internal components and DSP though. I’ll have three finished Martycube variants soon. I’ve been planning to buy a miniDSP 2x4HD for the subwoofers and now wondering if I should consider the DDRC-88A with the 88BM plugin. I’m sure the Marantz XT32 is sufficient and my use is 90% home theater for this setup.

Do I double my budget for a different AV preamp at $2000? Stick with the AV7704/976 and with/without Dirac Live??
