Hdpc 2.2 - Do I need a new receiver for hdr?

Hi, I read in a post that you cant use a splitter from an apple tv4k for example where one goes to projector and the other goes to an old receiver, the connection detect the the hdmi on the receiver as non hdpc 2.2 and sends a normal sdr signal to the projector, is this true?

I also have a sony wireless headset mdr hw700ds that is 4k passthrough but I dont know if its hdpc 2.2

finally I have a splitter after the receiver arc out where one is hdmi out to the projector and the other is optical out to another wireless headset, how does this affect hdcp 2.2?

ok I’m answering my own question, a device called hd fury avr key seems to solve my needs, it separates the 4k hdr stream without handshake issues, then I can use my non hdpc2.2 devices at the audio end.

That should work fine.

For future reference it is HDCP (High Definition Copy Protection).

Unless you have a device like the HD Fury to strip off HDCP then all points in the chain have to support it.

There are a few of those HD Fury's on eBay still: https://www.ebay.com/itm/HDfury-4-K-...I/173223805377

So what is your full HDMI chain? ATV -> TV -> Receiver -> Headset

Have tried and failed to get it working or are you just looking at building such a setup?

my current setup is rather complicated with splitters and hdmi-opt out conversion boxes but works great. But if I buy a new hdr projector I need a new configuration to avoid the hdcp 2.2 problem. The hdmi-opt cnersion box I can replace to hdcp 2.2. But the box for the other headphones cant be replaced to hdcp 2.2 since it come with headphones, it has hdmi in from the reveivers arc, It also has opt in so I might have to use that and settle for lesser sound. An avr key will work but a new receiver with atmos is just 2000$ more...
