Hi, new to the forums here and I don't know much AV.
I have dedicated speakers for my 5.2 surround for watching movies/TV and stereo for listening to music. I would like to be able to use one receiver that will drive both setups and use the 2 subs with either of the two. All the speakers are in the same room so I would not be using both at the same time (watching tv AND listening to music).
Yes, I have in ceiling/wall speakers for the 5.2 setup and have 2 seperate speakers for music in the same room. The subs I have are 2 8" powered JBL. I am trying to figure out what to do with the reciever. I don't have the receiver yet I am trying to figure out how to set it up with the least number of pieces.
Well if you have a denon or Marantz receiver i think you’ll want to set the “amp assign mode” to front b. Where you hook up your regular home theater in the 5.1 speaker terminals and then hook up your second pair of speakers for stereo mode in the rear surround speaker terminals and then to switch to the stereo mode you just toggle the front speaker selection (or button if your receiver has it) that says Front A, Front B or Front A+B
It’s a new house for me, so nothing is setup yet. The room is a big open room with a bar, pool table and tv seating area in sort of an L shape. The stereo speakers are also JBL, don’t know the model off hand. The surround speakers were existing in wall/ceiling, I think they are Polk but not sure.
