How to efficiently get internet to all devices?

I'm setting up a sony str-za5000es. The instructions and diagram don't offer much help, not that I would know.
The reciever has 8 ethernet ports, if I connect my modem/router will it supply internet to connected devices or does it just transmit the reciever data? I also read the hdmi has the capability of ethernet. I'm trying to limit unnecessary wires. Currently I have one cable from the router to my device of choice and the rest are wireless. So my question is about supplying wired internet to all devices.

Can I just connect everything to the reciever ports? Do I move the modem and connect everything to that? Do I leave the modem and get an ethernet switch? Do I even need ethernet in addition to hdmi?

Here's what I'm connecting to the reciever.
Sony a8f 65" tv
Sony 4k player x800m2
Roku premiere

According to the manual, port 1 & 2 can be used as PoE (Power over Ethernet) if you have applicable equipment, or you can simply treat it as normal ethernet port. Port 3-8 are not PoE, from the diagram it says it should connect one end to the router, and computer should connect back to the router. I don't think this should be the way to connect, since I would think you can treat this receiver as a "Network Switch", once you connect the router to any of the ethernet port, the rest of it should have internet access as well. You will need to test it out and see if this is the case.

Might want to ask in the dedicated thread for Sony 2017 ES series AVRs.

“Ever heard of the Sullivan Act?” “Oh that's all right, Detective, we're married.”
