Processor advice needed

I have a high end dedicated HT room with 15 speakers and 3 subs that was just built. I am needing to buy a processor and amps. I am torn between getting an Anthem AVM-60 or an Acurus Act 4-20. My question is that with the Anthem only having 11 dedicated channels, would I experience a huge performance deficit not giving each speaker it's own channel?

How about the Emotiva RMC-1? Might be a good fit for your specific situation. You could pair it with Emotiva amplification and still be under $10k.

Yea I'd look for a native 16 channel processor. There are a slew of them that just got announced this year and should be trickling out to the market in the next couple months. I'd search for the threads of those discussions.

Video: JVC RS4500 135" screen in pure black room no light, htpc nvidia 1080ti.
Audio: Anthem mrx720 running 7.1.4, McIntosh MC-303, MC-152, B&W 802d3 LR, B&W HTM1D3 center, B&W 805d3 surround, B&W 702S2 rear, B&W 706s2 x 4 shelf mounted for atmos, 2 sub arrays both infinite baffle: 4x15 fi audio running on behringer ep4000 + 4x12 fi audio running on 2nd ep4000.

What's your target configuration? 7.4.4? Something else?

Not really sure. I have LCR, so 3 up front, 3 on each side, 2 behind and 4 in ceiling. I also have 2 subs up front and 2 in the rear columns. What would be the ideal setup for that configuration?

Surprised that you didn't mention bugs and important missing features...

Almost every company uses early adopters as beta testers. Emotiva is no different. You should understand this better than most. The Emotiva RMC 1 has gotten really good reviews even with all the bugs and missing Dirac Live for now. I know you know this. Anybody spending $5K + on AV gear should be expected to do their own research before buying. Really anyone buying any AV gear regardless of price should do their own research. They are spending their money.

Then something along those lines are what you should be looking for.

Yiu didn't mention if you have Atmos speakers. Should be 4 or 6 speakers in, on or up near the ceiling..?

He designed the room and knows probably more than 99% of this forum, no disrespect to the other forum members. If he is recommending the Acuras Act 4-20 it is because he has heard it maybe even with the speakers he installed. I know you really want the Trinnov, but ask Dennis if he thinks it is worth it at over double the price of the Acuras.

When it comes to gear, even high end gear, half the sound quality is about room accoustics and professional calibration. I am positive Dennis took care of the room being properly designed for where he placed the speakers. A professional audio calibration would take care of smoothing out any of the problems the layout introduced. No room is perfect.

I would rely more on Dennis and decades of real world experience with high end audio technology than the people on the forum, who may read vociferously but probably have very little real experience with such high end gear. I read a lot and this has been my passion for over 25 years but I have very little experience with any audio gear over $5K as I guess would be most of the forum as well.

That's exactly what I have been thinking, but wanted to get other opinions and see how close they aligned.

Dennis is one of the few people I can honestly say are no longer in the business for the money. He could have retired from being CEO of any of the companies he oversaw and never worked again. He does this because he loves creating rooms for people to lose themselves in for hours heck days at a time.

So go with the Acurus unit if that is what your pro recommends. Those are good people. Have your expert install and calibrate the system and enjoy it. Your goal in investing in a system done by a pro was no doubt to enjoy the system, rather than spending your time posting on this forum about problems or schedule slips.

The Emotiva RMC-1, after years of broken promises, is still a .9 release, since it lacks promised features. Numerous problems with delivered units that have required replacement of the units have also been reported on the RMC-1 owner's thread on this forum.

Many of the other 16 -channel units from for example, Monoprice or JBL, are perfect at this point because they are vapor, that is they haven't been delivered. Nothing against them, but you simply can't buy one of those units today.

The muse supports 16 channels. It would support all the channels the OP is looking to have processed. I incorrectly stated only 12 channels earlier. My apologies.

Got it. It’s an option if he wants to dial the project back a notch.

It would be a great option if the OP wants to use less channels. For a $4000 savings I would seriously consider doing so. It was a great suggestion.
