iNuke DSP replaced with Mini DSP for BEQ?

Hey All,

I just discovered the BEQ thread and I am going to try and do this. I was wondering how to disable the iNukes DSP feature, then I was going to add the Mini DSP.
I was also told to leave the limiter on -1 or something I am unsure where the limiter feature is on the iNuke.. I know how to access the iNuke with the Behringer program and all but I dont remember seeing a limiter feature there??

I could use some help to get up on all this tech talk about subs and mainly the DSP stuff

If you have implemented any PEQ filters and/or an HPF/LPF in the iNuke, you would bypass/turn off those and re-implement them with the MiniDSP.

The limiter settings can be found here:

Hi Alan,

Thank you for the screenshot. am I supposed to set the peak limiter to any setting or is it just set too off.. I am guessing the Peak limiter stops it from peaking but if that is so what would be a good settting, someone in the BEQ thread suggested a minus 1 setting??

You might want to ask in the BEQ thread, that's where I got the settings for mine...which I can't remember at the moment.

I think you adjust dBfs and Vp until you get the maximum watts you want in the W box.....

The peak output wattage, yes. That is why it is called a "limiter".

Ahh ok, now is the peak wattage RMS values? I ask because the RMS wattage of my IXL 18.4 is 700watts RMS I have no idea what peak wattage would be or if it is 700??

EDIT: I posted this question in the BEQ thread..

I was reading the BEQ thread specifically the part on what to get.. I was wondering if I can use the MiniDSP 2x4HD with my Passive sub. I am only going to be balancing out the sub and using the DSP for the BEQ..

I been reading and I am unsure on how to connect the DSP to my setup..

I have a Integra 40.3 AVR, iNuke 3000DSP, Mach 5 IXL 18.4 subwoofer in a 12cu. ft box..

EDIT: I posted this question in the BEQ thread..
RMS is the continuous playback wattage, whereas peak would be the short term max wattage of the driver.

The normal config here would be AVR>MiniDSP>iNuke>Sub.

OK thnx. I do have a question I googled this and it seems to say most humans cant hear low frequency. So if say 16hz is the limit of human hearing and some of these frequencys on the movies are 10hz and they say the limit is 16hz are we really hearing these ULF or do we feel them per say..

kinda wierd but what is the deal here with these ULF and our subwoofers? are we hearing anything or not below 16Hz?

The common consensus is that the average human being is unable to really hear anything below 20Hz, so in the teens and single digits is where you will feel it vs. actually hearing it. This is also where having the MA's, or something like the BOSS will enhance the TR to give you a more pleasurable movie viewing experience.

Even though I'm just running a single SVS PB12 Plus, because my room is on a suspended wood floor I get some really good TR from it. Especially with BEQ. I'm hoping to build a couple of 18"ers at some point, so that should be a real game changer for me...especially with BEQ.

Yes, that is what I thought, if I did get the minidsp and such and ran the new settings for the Sub how would I know I was hearing/Feeling the new ULF as listed in the Graphs?

Oh, you'll know it when you feel it.

Also, you can actually measure it: Measure TR - The Viberry

So can I put more wattage into the IXL18.4 if the RMS wattage of it is 800RMS Watts?? I ask because if that is RMS the peak wattage should be higher but I have no idea how much more I can go on Peak wattage..
