Question Receiver with nice GUI?

Hi,

I'm wondering if there are surround receivers which have a nice interface for displaying my local collection of music (via LAN)?

I realize that Nvidia Shield, Apple TV etc. are good options (and I use both). But they all have some shortcomings when it comes to playback quality so using the receiver is the best option in some situations. DSD music for instance.

I have a Sony STR-DN1080 atm, and that works but has a very basic (boring) interface so just wondering...

Thanks in advance for tips.

/M

The mentioned Sony has the best, or more modern UI to date. Everything else still look like they never came out from the 80's which is really a shame on devices that cost fortunes.

Have you considered a PC for music playback? Using software like JRiver, or a free alternative like Kodi, will provide you with album covers, song listings, etc. And you can output the music in digital form via HDMI to your home theater receiver so the receiver will decode the music.

I have an Integra which has a pleasant if not impressive screen for network play [mostly artwork] but then the screen saver kicks in and it's low resolution pictures of soccer crowds and palm trees.
